Re: What have you done today thread?
Put off almost everything! It was low flying cloud this morning, then snow. Still snowing! Too wet (or the ground is too warm) to settle, but not encouraging to go outside
Have finished two small (ish) cross stitch things, well one last night and one today. Now I really must get my butt in gear and at least do some sorting in here ready to move things out when the weather is better
But, will probably end up doing more cross stitch later - have three big projects I can restart now there is decent daylight coming in; although one is a very big project that has been on hold for well over ten years and needs sunshine, so the other two will be on the go from later
Finished this last night. Brought on by a lovely friend and I having a laugh over a song that always makes him think of me. Need to find it to find the film (animation?) it comes from so I can watch it. That was a happy session and I kind want to give the cross stitch to him, but might be a bit weird, so I'll frame it and keep it for me- for now
Bookmark finished today - will go into the box of cards/little gifts of cross stitch stuff I've made

Worked a 12hr night shift, slept a bit and then a dog walk in the sunshine

Is that done with very thin pizza dough?gremlin wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 12:54 pmAnywhere near Naples will do good pizza, but do try to find somewhere that does pizza fritta. Folded pizza dough, like a pastie, deep-fried. Sounds like it would be leaden and heavy with oil, but it isn't. All come out of necessity due to Naples being destroyed during the war, along with the pizza ovens.Sadlonelygit wrote: ↑Thu May 02, 2024 12:41 pm Have just spent the last 40 minutes or so re-seating every bayonet bulb in the Moho after we drove down, what can only be described as, a tank testing area. I believe the ities call it a link road!
Honestly, I have driven better bush roads in Oz than this, it fair rattled the van, regardless of how slow I drove.
Bit of lunch, then south to Naples area!
We get something like that at our local, but not sure it's deep fried.

Just a heads up for anyone travelling around Naples in future.
The local toll road no longer accepts visa or mastercard, it is cash only or amex or diners club!
G'wan, ask me how I found out?
After you sit there for 10 minutes, they eventually open the barrier btw!

Chilled out. Did more cross stitch, then agreed to go check on someone's apartment as he thinks the air bnb guests that cancelled because it wasn't geographically where they thought are probably still there. Not actually sure how he got my number, so that's odd. Might have to change it as maybe it's still connected with the old business info on google
Really only writing it here as a prompt to tell someone local what I'm doing as I'm not overly keen to have a face to face with squatters and tell them that they have to leave or he'll call the gendarmes (who will take at least 30 mins to arrive as there's no one in resort at the moment )
Anyway, just waiting for my hair to dry post shower, then I'll go get the bike out. It's only in the other village but it'd take me an hour to walk each way and whilst it's not currently snowing/raining/foggy, I'm not overly keen to walk that far to check on an apartment!! LOL
But hey, at least I'll get the bike out! Very briefly! Sunshine tomorrow tho - so heading out for a little ride

Re: What have you done today thread?
Just had to replace the pads in the Suxuki. It's parked right outside the hotel foyer, so had to do it quick.
Had been out for a ride and brake felt funny. Nada. 1mm on pads. Fark.
Only done about 1,000 miles.
Luckily I brought a set of part worns. They seem OK but won't test properly till back on track Saturday.
Gonna get Pen to nip down local shop and bring some new ones over on Friday, just to make sure.

I'm back. No dramas - except having no idea where the cave was to get the key to change the door code! LOL Don't think the guests even went into the building TBHDavid wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 2:01 pmAre you back yet or have they kidnapped you and put you in the cellar?Noggin wrote: ↑Wed May 08, 2024 1:12 pm Chilled out. Re: What have you done today thread?
As I may have mentioned once or twice lately, we're in Italy.
Today we headed to the Adriatic coast, which basically involves crossing several mountain ranges with no autostrada to save you.
Chugging through some winding country roads we stumble on this beauty, 2.2m wide road block Only problem being The coach behind us didn't make it through!

Yeah....they do that. Good job you ain't in a rush, innit?
The good thing is those sort of road repairs get priority, so should be fixed by the time you return in 2032.

On the other side of the hill, back on the proper roads we saw farsaaaands of concrete semi circles which I imagine are tunnel liners, so rather than repair the road, get the eu to pay for a new tunnel, simples!

Had a lovely long walk on the beach, here at Playa Ballena. Reminds me of Hayle beach with massive tides and big sand dunes

Re: What have you done today thread?
Off to the vets in a while, the dog gave us all a big scare last night, he’d had the shits tuesday night and seemed very sluggish, then progressed to puking bile yesterday which changed to watery blood in the evening.
Seriously thought he was about to cark it, really listless and shaking.
He’s had this before a few years ago, more than once and the vet never got to a diagnoses but it seems to me like it could be poisoning of some kind. Despite being a Lab he’s not a scavenger and is never off the lead out if sight.
Seems better this morning even responding to the fridge opening and the cheese packet rustling which he wasn’t last night.

Re: What have you done today thread?
Had a Whatsapp chat with the Gremlinette. They've been put in groups to do their uni assignments and she's been with a group of lads. They initially set up a group chat, but the other week she stopped getting responses to questions and comments. Turned out the lad decided to set up their own group. Today she's turned up to work on the assignment and they've grabbed a table for four for themselves. She jokingly asked if they could make a bit of room, but they said they wanted to work as a four, so she's gone and sat on her own.
She seems unfazed by it, but it's boiled my piss a fair amount. If they have issues, then surely they of the age where they can sort it out. She has no idea what, if anything she's done to offend them, and I suggested she ask them via the group chat. She's decided to simply ignore it as it's not worth the bother and she's not going to waste her time as the assignment is nigh-on finished. In fairness, she's probably right.
I fucking detest bullying.

Switched the insurance back to the guzzi and MOT booked for the morning.
The Triumph front brakes need a strip down as the master cylinder is sticking on. The throttle cable is a smidge too short too since I put the new bars on so I'm going to change that out at the same time.

Is that the Guzzi with the Pegasus-style wings?
What's the verdict? Do they do anything worthwhile?

Re: What have you done today thread?
Went out for an explore to Vasto today (cracking little place), going back to the van, went past a carabineri that was doing a check on another vehicle. As we went past, it was like a couple of meerkats popping up, we may have been stretching the speed limit a smidge!
Got back, loaded the bike up in the Moho, 10 minutes ago a carabineri car drove purposefully around the sosta (Moho campsite)........twitchy bum time!
