That's my local, I've never seen a pub used as a polling station before.
It used to be the chapel around the corner, but it's up for sale.

Re: utterly random picture thread.
we use to ride old field bikes (honda 90s, Vespas etc) over the woods near us. If we came into the park that backed onto houses, the residenst would call the police. I remember one cops saying to me something along the lines of, "If I get called up here again, guess where you'll be staying tonight. Now fuck off over the woods with 'em". Never dreamed of back chatting them, unlike today where yoofs deliberately bait them. Look at the cops attire back then compared to todays, no stab vest taser etc.

I got more than a few clips round the ear from the local Bobby. Threatening to tell my old man was enough to stop us. Re: utterly random picture thread.
That looks a bit like a race engine...so as long as it lasts to the end of the race....
Re: utterly random picture thread.
I've been nagging my mum for ages to dig out the photo of my grandad with his brother's bike that lived on his sideboard, and that I was fascinated with as a kid.
In the meantime, my dad dug out this for me...
It's his first ever car, that he bought very second-hand for £20 when he was 17 (so in 1959 give or take). It's an Austin Eight 'drop head' (which means soft top), ex-WD scout car - you can tell it's ex-WD because of the ventilation slots in the bonnet. It was hand-painted in red (not by dad!), and the soft top leaked, so he repaired it with ex-WD barrage balloon material

Re: utterly random picture thread.
Portsmouth in the 1990s, taken this morning.
Mrs D bought a cheapo digital camera with no screen, it looks like a disposable 35mm point and shoot and takes old looking digital photographs. Great for kids!

We bought it for Baby D. No screen, no settings. Just point and shoot like your old cheapo 35mm. Battery lasts forever cause there's no screen and its really light, small and tough.
Stil takes 8MP photos. They just have that characteristic holiday snap look cause its fixed focus fixed aperture.

Re: utterly random picture thread.
Neat idea. I'd rather like one - got a particular project in mind. Who sells them in the UK? (I note that Amazon.com and .co.uk don't).
