Took the dog out for the day so he could poop/pee in other places. Hit the RockStore first, followed by the Sagebrush.. where they are now selling Brit stuff in their little store. Scored 2x Olops, 2 Crunchie, 2 Flakes, Snorker roll, Pasty, Choccy Hobnobs ($9!! FFS) & some sort of questionable Irish pie.
Saw a Ducati reduced to component parts spread across 3 lanes of the 5 Freeway. Looked up the traffic report, apparently he hit two cars. Was stuck in traffic for about 20 minutes, ambulance was still there & in no hurry to leave.

Do none of the shop staff object to your dog shitting on the premises?

Took the Crossrunner for MOT, which it passed easily. Mike reckons he can’t get staff, really struggling and causing him problems, any mechanics after a job?

Cycled 1/2 way to work and “trained” the rest. Switched off various bits of equipment, shut sidings to electric traffic and advised the distribution staff whilst they investigated the steaming/smoking cable pit at Williams Way.

Dealt with a train hitting a level crossing barrier near Billingshurst that had been knocked off by a car (made the news that did), had to switch off the right bits AND make sure the rules were followed so everyone worked safely to evacuate the passengers, repair the train and the track.

Had staff attend another siding to operate some equipment to isolate one “road” and allow us to keep the power on in the rest of it after a short circuit blew out a conrail pot and damaged the running rail.

Made sure contractors working in the building didn’t do anything to interrupt the day.

Spoke to the Telecoms staff and Projects staff about our historic and new SCADA data line issues.

Printed off new Comprehensive Track Diagrams and up dated records (the plotter has a vendetta against me so I regard printing off 4 drawings with only one minor hiccup a victory).

Now waiting to go home.

Did NOT sleep well last night - stayed at my friends and the bed was solid but doesn't feel level! Pillows not like mine at home!! Then gale force winds made one of the shutters loose and it sounded like the roof was falling in but I couldn't work out why! (no shutters where I live!).

Anyway - woke up relatively early, sorted out the shutters, had breakfast with my friends and then drove to Geneva airport with them in their rather lovely Subaru! My mate is a bit set in his ways sometimes and think he'd have preferred to drive (but I basically insisted on being a chauffeur as i get really car sick!). Started off wanting to go via the motorway which I hate (boring, longer, only 5 mins faster, much prettier via Annecy!) but as we got to the turning for Annecy he suggested we go that way. Turns out that I go through Annecy a different way than he does - cue a few comments of "that way please", "no we need the motorway from Annecy to GVA" :) I was as a dick, I went the way I always do - very pretty and yes, joined the motorway for GVA :D

Headed home to mine to get my bike gear and my boss saw me parking up - he did laugh a bit cos I've spent all season driving a Trafic Auto minibus and there I am turning up in a sporty (ok, sporty estate!) Subaru with fat exhausts on the back    But Damn it drinks fuel going up the mountain!

Home to feed cat and get an early night - here's hoping I've fixed the bastard shutters!!!

Returned two things to Amazon. One of which required me to buy a box to ship it back. UPS drone wasn't happy that I only had $100's to pay the $8 for the box & gave me grief.
So I kept quiet when she gave me $102 change.

On the flip side:
A couple of weeks ago I was at Lowes to get some screws. Not one manned check out open in the store & there were 20+ people in line at the one manned check in the garden dept.
So I decided to pay for them on my next visit & walked out without paying. This morning I was back there to buy some rawl plugs & had the empty packs from two weeks ago. Gal was confused when I asked her to ring them up as well.

Sad shift, 2 suicides, 1 successful, 1 seriously hurt. Shame there seems to be lots of these happening at the moment, sure sign the help isn’t working, if it’s there.

Fair play to you. Not something I'd have the backbone to deal with, I suspect.

My mate's daughter is a fresh PC with the Met. The other week she got a call to a 12 year-old lad who'd hung himself. She's only 21 herself.

I've ridden a motorbike :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: (first time in about 8 months I think :D )

My mate went off on his hols yesterday, so I took the bike out this morning to go back up to resort to say goodbye to some friends and pick up a couple of things.

Yes, my enthusiasm is still way higher than my current skill level :( but this time I'm keeping a lid on the enthusiasm a bit so that I can regain the skills :D :D

Am now home and have a hurty arm, but a gurtly big grin on my face :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

I'm back at the country pile so I schlepped around the grounds in the sunshine and chatted to the lambs.

I like that bathhouse. Proper Victorian splendour.
