Shit and giggles. Always good for a laugh at the gym when I get my freshly-painted trotters out. I do have semi-regular pedicures as I get hard skin on my heels, which cracks when I run, and gets bloody painful. It's actually quite amazing to see much dead skin comes off when they whip out their instruments of torture. One contains a little razor blade and seems to able to remove several mm of hard skin in one pass.

Lovely when you walk out and your feet feel fresh and soft.

IIRC, that was polish, so easy to remove. Gremlinette had a quiet word with the ladies on an occasion prior to that and got them to 'gel coat' my big toenails a glittery blue, to match my Triumph. That shit is impossible to get off. For months I had blue big toenails.

Applying some moisturising cream to your heels daily would be quicker, more convenient and cheaper.

Boots do some excellent foot moisturising creams (their own brand stuff is the best). I have some as I too can get hard, cracked skin on my heels with the climate, salt water and who knows what else.

I've tried all sorts of unctions and none really do much, other than Epiderm, which Gremlinette used get on prescription and we're fast running out of. Even that has limited benefit. Getting a pedi is actually a bit of a treat: lower leg massage, foot spa, scrubs, proper cutting and filing of nails, cuticles, dead skin, moisturising massage...and all whilst sat in a big, heated massage chair having a bit of dad time with my daughter and being quite the celebrity merely by the virtue of my gender. What's not to like?

Oi got me one of these (mine isn't rechargeable but you can put rechargeable batts in). Quick razz before showering each time and much less than those curved scalpel/razor blade things - which I bought and tried. + the slightly deluxe l'Occitane foot cream - which I was gifted - for after-showering.

I would put a road cone in the thing (I have a couple), but it would just get driven over.

There was a another deep pothole about 1/2 a mile away from this one that was almost permanently full of water over winter - the cone that someone pit into it (and which showed how deep the pothole was: over half the height of the cone!) was driven over within a week, and then repeatedly driven over (it got more and more battered) until it disintegrated.

You have to wonder either what else people are prepared to drive over, or how oblivious they are to what's in front them.

I think some of the biggest 'culprits' are HGV drivers who really don't seem give a crap about road-condition, I daresay that potholes that would kick a car about are barely felt in the cab of something like a cement truck.

Portable speed cushions are available that can be placed ahead of roadworks.

During tests, HGV drivers barely felt them.
