They're set so high numbers are next to low right? That's what I always assume...so if you aim for a big score and miss you get a low one.
It's probably some obscure sports/religious/Industrial revolution/political reason and that ^^^ practical result is just a coincidence.

I did, and I got sidetracked by why is it called the oche? It sounds like a word that's been passed down through generations but it's surprisingly recent.

Well - I have to say that after all that, last nights lamb karahi was the most disappointing, flavour-less curry I think I've ever had, not unpleasant, just dull. The peshwari naan had more flavour.
