A bit of a trend to brighten up the misery of 2020 by putting decs up early is developing, so we might put ours up this weekend or next? TBH I've lost my enthusiasm for Xmas since losing my Mum a couple of years ago. She loved Xmas as did I, so maybe this will bring good memories and my Xmas mojo back. We will have my Step Father over on Xmas day and possibly my Sister, but no big groups like we used to? Since my kids have grown up and we only have a couple of people over, it feels more like laying on a Sunday roast than cooking Xmas dinner. But as I said, I will try and enjoy it again this year and I'll spoil the wife of course...

Just us and the 3 kids. We'll zoom the grandparents, take the dog for a walk on the common and then assemble 15 metric shit tons of lego. Roast sirloin of beef and a small turkey crown for dinner.

The inlaws have been invited to the Wife's Brothers for dinner and we don't have to go. Yay!

I'm not going to tell my parents in case they asks us to go to theirs.

Which means... the Curry House for Christmas, YES!

I was thinking it was coming a bit early this year, loads of our neighbours have lights up.

Divali innit?

Crimbo wise its just us this year. Parents decided they're volunteering at the Hospital on Christmas Day and my brother (who lives near my rents) doesn't have enough room to host.

We always go to Wales and spend the Xmas period with MiL.

The thing is, i usually spend several hours in the pub with my lad, bit of pool, some beers and peanuts :) bopping to music while trying to pot some balls and having a laugh. It'll be a terrible shame to miss out on that.

But whether we'll actually go at all is open to debate because of the CV19.

What happens then, well, it'll be a bit of a dull one at home then which would be a terrible shame.

Depends if the gf’s daughter can come home, C19 rules ok!!
If so, to the gf’s for a few days of booze, beef for dinner, all chilled out.
If not, we are having a day out in that London, picnic on Hampstead Heath, weather dependant, with the daughter!! Something different.
Neither of us are Chrissmassy types, given the choice we would clear off to the sun and sit round a pool. Until the daughter finds a boyfriend I guess we have to put on a brave face!!

I had a trip to S. Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe planned, meeting the fellow travellers on Christmas Day in J'burg after a couple of days popping it up with some of the family that live there. But the organising company have cancelled all their trips this year and either giving a full refund + 10% or a re-booking for next year which is what we've done.

Instead, I'll be doing pretty much what I did last year, spending Christmas and New Year down at Çaliş near Fethiye, eating, drinking and being merry. What I won't be doing this year that I did last year is climbing any mountains. I've retired.

I'll probably spend most of it putting the online Church services together.
I do wonder if that's what I should have put in the 'what's your job' thread...though payment doesn't come into it.

It’s the first xmas that Mrs W won’t be working in about 10 years so that will be nice. Number one son has recently got married and moved out so we’re hoping to go round his house to drink his alcohol and eat his mince pie for a change.

When my daughter first moved out we went round and I made myself a sandwich, I left crumbs on the side, left the butter out and then left my plate on the arm of the sofa.
When she complained I said "Ha".
Remind me to do that :)

Fuck off it's only November...;)

Plus i live on my own and it's gonna be lonely as shit this year.

I plan to pop over to one of my sisters gaffs for a few hours, that's it. There will be myself, sister, BIL and nephew, but they are TV addicts and once coronation street comes on i'm off back home...;) - i also won't be able to drink whilst i'm there as will be driving!

TBF i am quite the loner anyway so will be looking forward to a night at home on xmas day smashing out the tunes!

I think, if lockdown is loosened a bit, i shall also be doing a mix on boxing day as is customary with me and a mate as of late, done a boxing day mix 5 years in a row now...:)

It is what it is this year, shit!

MRs Weeksy tells me we're unlikely to be doing Xmas down in Wales now, so we'll have to devise a new plan.

Ideally from my perspective, we'd do it 'out' so the wife doesn't have to cook, but i can't see her going with that plan. But i do think Xmas dinner for 3 will be a bit of a faff that's not really worth the time and effort put in.

The problem comes though with, who really wants to go out at the moment...

The same as we do every year. If I suggest any deviation I get strange looks from the family. I can add to Christmas, but I can't take away.

8am round to my Mum's with son no. 2
8.30am wake up Mum, son no. 1 and his girlfriend with tea/coffee
9.30am serve Eggs Royal and Bucks Fizz
10am presents
11am start dinner
3pm eat dinner
5pm lucky dip (a huge range of small presents raffled off and swapped around, everyone's a winner)
Evening, pudding, film, board games.
Snackage and drinks available at all times and everywhere you look.
Sounds regimented but its not, its just been like that forever.
I CBA with decorations so don't bother - no one has noticed.
