I was going to get a tiler in until I started talking to them, they only wanted to do the easy bit of sticking the tiles up.

It's a lovely day here,so I was set to spend some time on the bike, but the council have salted the bone dry roads for Easter,so I'll be doing something else then.

Probably done you a favour, the roads are jam packed with appalling driving, I was on the motorway earlier and all lanes were stuffed with people doing the same speed and refusing to pull over to let anyone past. I was sat behind a bloke in a hot hatch doing 65mph in the outside lane and after a time flashed my lights to politely suggest that he move over and all I got was abusive gestures - the usual story, when we got off at the same junction and sat at the traffic lights he seemed to have an aversion to catch my eye, he was a forty-something chinless wonder that looked like he still lived with his mum, all hard as nails giving gestures from the safety of his car doing 65mph in front of me, but once stopped he gave the appearance of a very worried man

Not that I've have gotten out or anything silly, I wasn't even going to exchange words or return his abusive hand gestures, I'm used to living in a country where that is illegal and you get deported for it, but these keyboard warrior types are vexing

Had the foresight yesterday to drop off oil, filter and tools where I had to be again today so I got to ride around in the sunshine quiet a bit & also do an oil change at lunchtime.

Spent most of the day working with stone.
Layed some travertine tiles this morning and had to do a couple of awkward cuts.
This afternoon had to do a bit of masoning, nicked a lump of stone from the neighbours garden to cut down to fill a hole left by a now redundant lintel.
SWMBO was actually impressed!

I walked a bit of that last summer.

I kinda thought it was like an ancient byway or something, a la Ridgeway or Fosse Way.

Nope, opened in 1999 :D

Finally got round to fitting the mirror film I ordered for the van's rear windows (it's an ex-AA VW T4). It's self adhesive, but with a peel-off film and you have to float it onto a windowed wetted by a slip solution of water and washing up liquid. I've never done it before, and it shows... I suspect when you get it done professionally it's a two man job, and they'll actually know what they're doing. I was more concerned about not winding up stuck to fly-paper...

Anyway, it will serve its (dual) purpose of stopping people seeing what's in the back of the van, and also rejecting some of the southern France heat when I visit next month.

And I also made damson jam from a 5kg tray of damsons that had been in the freezer since August 2023, transferred it to jam jars (a really messy job) and cooked home made pizza for our evening meal. So a reasonably productive day.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

I've been to church this morning. It's usual here (Ireland) to have a mass for someone a month after they've died. The old man died three weeks ago last Friday but as I'll be back in Spain next Sunday we did it today.

I've reminded the people who live along the road from Thetford to Elmswell and the road from Stonham Tap to Framsden what Sunday mornings are for, riding a large 4 cylinder motorcycle as God intended.

Had a lie in.
Helped make lemon drizzle cake, and got the leftovers in the bowl.
Helped make apple crumble.
Helped ice the lemon drizzle, and had the leftovers in the bowl.
Trimmed and tidied up 5 fir trees in the garden.
Loaded some stuff in the caravan.

I think I’ve had too much sugar because I’m now looking for more jobs to do round the house!!
Happy Easter all
Mick.

Got up, pottered about until lunch. Eventually went back to bed. Got some sort of virus possibly. Thought it was hay fever a couple of days ago and tried Piriton - to no effect.

Think I might go to the quacks and get them to run some standard blood tests though. Not wanting to be hypochondriac or anything but there's a couple of things I'd like to know the levels of - and running bloods is something they can do at the surgery these days.

Got up, cleaned the oven, tinkered with stuff and then went out for lunch. Now returned, stuffed full of roast lamb with all the trimmings. That's me done for the day. No more food for the day, but a beer and the odd glass or two of wine might be acceptable.

As the kids have now all passed their driving tests and my runaround DS3 has been acquired by the youngest, I decided to treat myself to a new runaround.

Now the proud owner of a VW CC (Passat CC in old money), which has been christened the 'Large Turd' due to its fine colour - a dark bronze/brown/grey colour :D

Took M and a friend to the airport, washed the boat, stuck some masking tape on various places and then put the first coat of posh paint on.
