Err...why would someone be upset by it? Some might question the taste* but the expression is now in common-ish use in the USA, as I understand it, for stuff as varied as an encouragement to someone facing cancer.

* If they knew what it is, not many in the UK would.

When they were placed for defensive purposes, the instructions stated that you were supposed to be 100 yards behind them..... they came with a 100ft control wire...

I was just reading about the engine in this thign out of curiosity. I knew it was a V8 but that's about it...

It's a good old yank engine in some ways, cast iron block with pushrod valves. It does have a turbo but only a really simple one and this year probably has a mechanical fuel pump still?

I really thought it made way more power than it does. It's just over 200bhp right? I thought it was sorta 400ish. The 2 litre straight four in my diesel car makes more power and only very slightly less torque! My car might protest if you tried to lug along at peak torque for hours on end towing a boat though

The non-turbo version is a total slug. This one is somewhat better. Max torque at 1600rpm gets it off the line & it will cruise all day at 85-90mph. The new Power Squeeks make 435hp & a hair over 1000ft/lb... but the new ones have that CP4 clusterfuck going on... which means a $15k repair bill when it shits the bed (Chevy stopped using it). There are aftermarket kits to prevent the CP4 bed shittery & that costs around $3k by itself.
Injectors are fired by high pressure oil pump (3000psi).

There are upgrades available for mine that put it around 400hp

Gonna be adding a (Racor) Marine fuel filter/water separator under the cab mounted to the frame rail at some point.

Funny you mention that... I was backing my former F350 into a spot at a local bar one afternoon & didn't notice the 4in square aluminum light pole was embedded in an 18in dia, 2 1/2ft tall concrete mount... which I tapped with the rear bumper hard enough to dislodge the 3 lamp doodad at the top of the pole.. which fell into the bed of my Dually with an almighty crash
I promptly decided to park at the opposite side of the parking lot & deal with the wreckage when I got home after lunch.

I had an attack of the dumbasses...


There was a break in the weather so I decided to put the tonneau cover back on the F350. The frame is four lengths of aluminum extrusion with pot metal corners that hold the four pieces together. The front/left corner doodad has a broken tab.

Anywho, I manage to get the frame on the bed rails & attach the four bows.

I pull the cover taut & start to press the snaps to hold it in place.

Sides were fine, no frigging way in hell was the rear going to snap in place.

Fought it for a while & then had an epiphany... all I need to do is cut a bit off the rear of each side extrusion. 1/8in might be enough. FFS.


AND...

The power went out today all over town, probably related to the sub-station we saw on fire as we drove past. However SCE has been doing maint work & turning the power off between 10pm & 6am, so it was possibly related to that as the lights were flashing this morning at 6am, even though the power was on last night.

Get home from running errands...

Neither of us had house keys, garage door openers weren't working. Ended up having to break into the house... but not before breaking into the SB Honda to get a pry bar from the trunk... which of course set the horn blasting when I opened the door without the key.


Now I need to replace the + clamp on the SBH battery & fix the security door on the side of the garage.

Bought an "Old Man Step" at Lowes (actually a stout plastic crate) that will live in the bed. Also need to pick up a cargo hook for retrieving stuff without having to remove the tonneau cover... & possibly a large bag for the truck cover to go in as there's not a chance in hell it will ever fit back in the shipping bag.

Shortened side rails 1/8in cover fits perfectly now.

Polished out the paint damage next to the back window & on the side of the bed (which I noticed yesterday)

Next project is sliding the entire frame forward so it's flush with front edge of the bed.

Shuffled tonneau frame forward an inch or so, now it aligns with the bed rails

Cut/fabbed a diamond plate step plate as the step in the bumper was slicker than teflon snot. Just meed a polish now.



Now making a seat for the tailgate.

OMS.... Old Man Step... made from an off cut & a crate from Lowes. Need to bolt the wood to the crate.



All the wood is getting spar varnish later in the week.

It's a handy place to store the outboard motor. The slats make the transom self draining too.
