This post and your pen post show the differences between some of us.

I can't recall the last time i used a pen... certainly not in the last 5 years. I wear shoes twice maybe 3 times a year.

Might get two pairs from the Loakes Outlet for £500, if they have your size.

Whenever I have some spare cash I think about buying a Nintendo Switch, but then I end up with Boss Polo Shirts instead.

I definitely have no use of a pen, although that said i'm just putting a small X on a peak flow asthma chart twice a day!! :D It would be a nice thing to own i suppose, but i'd find it a waste as it'd never see the light of day. I already have a nice pair of Loake brogues.

Struggling to think of anything and starting to feel i'm spending for teh sake of it? I might see if they'll go for a TUI voucher as i was intending taking the wife for a city break to Seville this year and one would take the sting out of that. I just lookked and they do do them for that amoiunt.

Otherwise i'm looking at more unused kitchen cupboard inhabitants! :hmmm:

Drive away awning for the camper, nice Webber barbecue, couple of comfy recliners for sitting around in the evenings while away.

I guess it depends if you want something symbolic/sentimental (like the long service watch you posted). Ask the offspring what they'd like to remember you by.

Seems a shame to spend it on something routine or transient.

Commission a painting and stick it on the wall or something.

I hear you, but the best thing my wife and i own are our memories. I'm much more likely to be talking about a Seville break based on contributions from my employer, than bringing out say a watch or pen to remember the award by.

Mont Blanc pens are actually quite pants as pens IME. Plus precious resin is BS, it's plastic.

If it was a work gift for long service that I genuinely wanted to mark with something then I'd probably get a watch or something that will last forever, or if I wanted the money then I'd buy a gold chain and wait, then sell it when gold goes up.
^^ - yep, you can get a nice Hamilton for £500 or less.

We have quite a few paintings, drawings and prints. From a mental waltz around the house, about a dozen relate to a holiday or event. So memories prompted.

As it happens, my bespoke art consultant has this delightful piece for sale at only £499.99. Unframed, naturally, as not detract from the beauty of the piece. Printed on glossy paper, measures roughly A3 size.

Save getting complicated just send me the money and I'll act as escrow agent for peace of mind. Be quick though, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
