The F350 Thread

Post by ZRX61 »

Owned it two weeks, but only had possession for four days owing to it being almost 500 miles away when I bought it.

Fueled up & added Hot Shot's Diesel Extreme (tiger piss) to both tanks. This resulted in the exhaust smelling like I'm running it on rocket fuel.
Bought manuals & a cover for it. Picked up a few spare parts (cam position sensor, serp belt, injection pressure regulator & injector relay). Splurged on some tools at Horrible Fright that will live in the truck.
Bought an anti-theft relay doodad that prevents the injectors firing unless I press the button on the fob thingie. System arms itself 30 seconds after the engine is turned off. Took all of a minute to pull the OEM relay & install the trick one.

Pulled the 5th wheel hitch out of the bed yesterday & removed the tonneau cover & associated gubbins. Brown marks are just dirt that was under the mount rails, not rust.

Cover will be going back on once the spray in bedliner is done.

Happiness is a shiny pumpkin...

Previous owner put it in four shows & collected a trophy at each one.

There's some minor damage to the right/front running board that the seller did 28 years ago when it was new. I'll get that sorted when the weather warms up.
All the graphics on the truck are actual paint, not decals.

The right bed rail has been pushed down a bit by something at some point. It's barely noticeable, but will get sorted by a slight shove in the right direction with a Porta Power.

There's also a cracked part on the tonneau brackets which will either be bought new from the place that made it, or welded back together if it's not available.

New hood blankie will be here in a few days. Damage was caused by the serp belt letting go.

So you can fit 3 supersized Merkins in the front and 3 in the back? How wide is that thing?

Have to get it weighed before heading over to have the Ca DMV break it off in my ass on Tuesday afternoon.

Radar detector works :)

Oil & filter change after I get registration sorted. (It holds EIGHTEEN GODDAMN QUARTS, I can buy the oil at Wally World in 5gal buckets).
Will also be upgrading the sound system to Sirius Satellite & having the same guy install front/rear cams.
Swapping out the *Ford* logo hitch cover for a replica Claymore mine (that will be here tomorrow)
Will also make a new center floor console for the front that will be a bit taller as the cup holder part is about 2in deep.. and I don't need cassette slots. This will also incorporate a row of switches for the orange/white spotlights on the front (currently controlled by switches on small bracket to the left of the CB radio) and a switch for a [pair of soon to be installed 200w *manually switched reversing lights" under the rear bumper (to alert high beam wankers behind me to their folly)... plus a hidden switch for a train horn :)
Found a place that does licensed reprints of the original factory manuals, so ordered those (3750+ pages). Won't bother with a factory '96 Diesel supplement manual as I have a '95 copy.

I turned it on driving home from Az. It was quiet for a while & then I hear "Fucking bitch, Go fuck yourself". Turned it off.

2 supersized & a regular size in the front & back. Not sure how wide exactly, I think it's around 7ft. I know its around 21ft long

The dog absolutely loves the truck. Picked up a small dog bed last week. Its about the size of the middle seat up font. Stopped at a rest area just West of Phoenix on the way back, he was curled up & chilling before we merged back onto the 10 freeway. Same deal for the other 4 stops.

It's not going to be a daily driver as I'll be keeping the ShitBox Honda for running around town. Truck takes a while for the temp gauge needle to move. First drive in the truck was an 8 mile round trip & I thought the gauge was kaput until I was almost back.

That badge is a hitch cover & this beast has a Class V hitch made from 3/8in steel plate & 1/2in wall box section tube... You wouldn't want to tap that unless you want your car to fold up like a wet tissue. 8-)

At least have the decency to paint it. Satin Black might make it look nice. Probably raptor paint.

It looks MUCH nicer than the current F350s. They try way too hard to look butch and tough and wind up looking stupid.

If those graphics are painted on, rather than stickers, it must have cost a pretty penny as a factory option (assuming it is one). It'd be a shame to paint over 'em.

What motor does it have in it? It looks in remarkably good condition for a 28 y.o. vehicle. How many miles has it covered?

Isn't a comedy large V8 diesel, summit daft which wouldn't be amiss in a small patrol boat?
