It kind of annoys me that they went to such effort in seemingly every other respect...and then slapped the merc van grille on at an angle.
I think the actual truck chassis bit is a Merc, doesn't look like a big Cargo or Transcontinental.

Gordon Murray, him what won F1 titles, built the worlds fastest road car and now owns an eponymous supercar company, has a Mk1 Escort.
Might have been mentioned before in this thread, I can't remember.

I think the blinged up Escort looks mint. I can't fault it except the difference in height between the front and rear wheels / arches.
I'd rather have it than a 90s Ferrari. That said, there are lots of cars I'd rather have than a 90s Ferrari but we're all different and that's cool. I'd like a new shape NSX or Lexus LC500 but due to all the bairns, I'll probably get a nine seater Ford Transit. There are times I wish I'd had the vasectomy sooner.

Now you're talkin'.
I've been tempted a number of times. I should have got one back when they were cheap. But I've always been put off by the rouched material on the door cards.
As a modern version of a classic (I remember an absolute animal Z on the RAC Rally)....I quite liked the look and sound of the 2019 Nissan 370z (last of the normally aspirated ones I believe) that was briefly behind me yesterday - then in front for the next 5 miles as I kept catching up when they met traffic and cyclists
That beast on the RAC Rally has stayed on my mind all these years...it popped, banged and crackled like a demented firework. Can't remember which number Z though.
