I acquired 8 pallets from the building site next door.
Now 6 of them have been added to my wood pile courtesy of my Makita 18v circular saw.
Last 2 joined the spares piles as batteries were overheating and not taking a charge for some reason

I put the cutting disc straight through the light switch cable!

Easy fix tho' (yes I know, it's getting fixed properly soon).

If you regularly cut wood like that you should get your self a table saw.

If you regularly cut wood like that you should get your self a table saw.

Just every few months. The 18v jobby does the job.
Also handy if I see pallets at the tip. Can chop them to go in the car.

I've got a jigsaw but can't be arsed laying out long cable.
Besides, circular saw is more manly

Went to the gym for my induction and set up on the eGYM. Fantastic system and really enjoyed using it. Downside to the day was I have a BioAge of 71! Also, my body composition analysis revealed I have a very high body water content of 63.4. I have been suffering from oedema (puffy feet and lower legs) lately, so I've looked into a few things and everything I'm suffering with likely stems from my blood pressure medication change to Amlodipine just before Xmas, so back to the docs next week. All in all, a kind of, really positive day.

The food bank people were at my local supermarché, so did my bit for those who think they are less fortunate than me ( nearly everyone I see coming out of the local restaurant de coeur have far nicer motors than I do!)

After over 20 years of sitting around unloved and unused, I've finally got round to fixing and servicing my old Logic Tempo turntable. From memory it never worked properly after the journey from Stafford to Sheffield in the early 2000s. It's unusual in turntables from that era (mid 1980s) as it has suspension - springs and dampers! OK, so the springs are weedy little things you can compress between finger and thumb and the damping is just a piece of foam, but...

The foam had dissolved into a slightly greasy pile of dust and the springs needed the grommets they fitted into replacing as they too were falling apart. I also did an oil change on it - the main aluminium sub-platter bearing runs in an oil bath and the oil had pretty much turned to treacle. So I cleaned out the old muck and replaced it with no more than 5ml of Motul 10w60. Oil changes are cheap on turntables.

Then I cleaned off the motor pulley face (removing the old drive belt) and the sub platter rim with IPA and fitted a new drive belt (amazingly still available on eBay for a few quid). Thankfully I hadn't binned the old belt, as the new one was too short, too tight and was trying to climb off the drive pulley. The old one was probably a bit loose, but still did the job. And best of all it sounded bloody great. I put Gimme Shelter on as a test and Merry Clayton's soaring vocals really hit the spot. Job jobbed.

Planned on having a lazy day, but on taking the hound out for his mid-day wander, discovered the FocusOfDestiny had a flat tyre (second in three weeks, and third puncture in the household this year already ), so swapped it for the space saver, and did a few other pottering about jobs while I was at it.

Muz will take the tyre to be changed for me this week while the car sits at the train station and I wander around Glasgow/London

Off to a mates tonight for a catch up, if I get another puncture I will throw a proper strop.

Declared the loft rodent free after a week of catching nothing and no fresh sign being left behind, so mostly I've been lugging all the crap that had been taken out of the loft back up into the loft

Actually found my motorcycle in my garage!

Pulled it out, fired up first time. Removed the shit pads the dealer had fitted (GoldFren FFS!) and replaced with some nice EBC HH, pulled some new brake fluid through whilst I was there.

I'm all confused today. Yesterday I went to the RockStore & the Sagebrush (my usual bar), I normally do this on a Sunday, so after I got home yesterday afternoon I kept thinking it was Sunday. Woke up this morning thinking it's Monday.

I had one of those days that unexpectedly turned out really nice. Nowt special, just went over to Leigh-on-Sea to meet up with my Sister for a dog walk. Did some fruit & veg shopping at this little place she uses and then watched the dogs chase the squirrels round the library gardens and ended up in a bar that lets dogs in and had a few drinks.

A bloke in my control room had his alarm changed by his grandkids. So early shift, alarm goes off, he gets up, sorts himself out and gets in the car to head in, when he realises it’s only 0315, he normally leaves 2 hours later!!

I serviced my bike. Oil and filter changed etc, including check valve clearances. The bike is 14 years old and has done 16k miles and there's no record of the valve clearances ever being checked. They should be done every 2 years or 20k but they've been checked now.



You can see why they don't often get done



All 12 within spec. The oil was very clean too but it ought to be because I've only done 600 miles since the last oil change a year ago

I've had 6 bikes in the last 10 years. With different bikes needing different oils I've collected a number of partly used containers of different weight oils



The Motul 10w60 is almost full, I've no idea which bike it was for. The two containers at the back are for the car and the campervan.

Motul 10w60 is the oil of choice for a KTM Duke 690 (and quite possibly other KTMs). KTM recommend Motorex, but Motul is betterer.

Dropped the car off for a main dealer service (the last one its going to get before I do it myself).

I'm hoping they pick up loads of stuff that needs fixing, cos it's still got a month of manufacturers warranty left

My Nissan 4x4 broke down today, the auto shift lever became disconnected and I couldn't shift in out of drive, which means once I switched it off it wouldn't start again because it's stuck in drive. I think it's just a pin link on the lever that has snapped.
A man took it away on a lorry.

It's only a little bit disappointing, it's done 140,000 kms without a peep, although that's small fry to the yanks, it's an American model and they regularly do half a million miles without issue.
