Brand new shiny Suzuki day
Today I recieved delivery of this Pre registered SV650X
I've got a previous gen SV650S that I bought as a winter hack bike a couple of years ago & it's been so good that I thought I'd buy a newer one for some Euro touring,I've got addicted to that Vtwin engine & was going to get a low miles one for about £4000 but I managed to find this pre reg bike up for £4999 & under warranty until July 2025.At that price I had to have it
Now going to order a front mudguard extender & radiator guard, then apply ACF50 to most of it's shiney parts.
To be continued

Is it noticeably smaller than the older one, they look tiny in the shop?

Incredible price - bargain of the year! Where did you get it from and do they have any more?

It really is hideous ( © Taipan), but will have a very short life-span, I'm sure...

I've never looked at one in a shop,I try to steer clear of shops as it can get a bit spendy!KungFooBob wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 3:02 pm Is it noticeably smaller than the older one, they look tiny in the shop?
One of the first things I noticed when moving both bikes around is that the new bike is noticebly smaller than the earlier version, but the seat height seems about the same

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
After seeing images of this model I thought the silencer looked hideous, but in the metal it's not as hideous as it looks on screen.I still plan on swapping it,but I think for tours abroad in order to keep on the right side of the law it might be best to keep it standard

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
Looks quite nice that. Is that just the headlight surround or a mini fairing type thing. ??

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
It looks like the basis of a decent top half fairing. Why so small though ??

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
I've seen it described as a Stubby nose fairing & as a headlight cowl.
I think the bike looks a lot better in real life than as a image on the web. This is the first time I've seen one stood alone & not crammed in a showroom. The frame colour also looks better than it does on a image. It's all positive
I intend to fit a top yoke conversion & Renthal bars as I did to my SV650S.I'm also thinking about fitting some handguards & I'll have a look if there's a flyscreen for the bike.

I agree,no interest in buying a big heavy ADV bike,don't even want a Vstrom!Potter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 03, 2024 2:54 pmThat’s a good thing.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2024 9:05 pm New SVs are tiny, I sat on one and it felt like a 125

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
I seem to remember who ever had one as a long termer at MCN fitted a standard SV seat as they found it much more comfy than the X version.

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
I rode a couple of the early ones, and seriously considered buying one a few times, but I don't like the power delivery, they're great bikes and easy to ride pretty fast on, much like Honda NC30s.

Re: Brand new shiny Suzuki day
I bought my Winter hack SV a couple of years back & it took me a few months to appreciate the power delivery, after a few months I noticed that I was using it more often than the Street Triple.I just seemed to enjoy it more on the back roads around here.
