Forum Extravaganza ! Saturday 27th - Sunday 28th July - Castle Combe / Wiltshire.
OK then kids... Due to the lack of dates that work and the lack of actual interest, we're throwing a curveball and instead of trackdaying we're going to do camping and watching @Tricky go race his Bandit 600 at Castle Combe
I'm going to let @G.P see what he can do with his family local camping which is near Calne in Wilts. If that all works then we'll make it a weekender. I'm sure @G.P will arrange ride-outs to the track and on the roads if required.
If you all fancy it, then we'll put on the BBQ and get the meat going etc.
So that's it really... who wants to play and who doesn't.

Ooooo, before my driving course and not a stupidly busy time!!
Will depend if I work through the interseason or if I am unemployed!! (I know, I'm flakey as hell but I do always want to join in, just not really in a position to do much travel normally!!)
Hope it works out

It’ll be raining!!!
A week after my 65th birthday, so I’ll tentatively say put me down, depends on a few things though. Sounds like could be a good couple of days.

Cool, I'll get something arranged, we should be able to build fires and camp in the wooded area etc. They even got the drive up to the farm tarmaced recently so the place is actually accessible to normal vehicles! watch this spaceweeksy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 4:49 pm OK then kids... A location I might actually make, although my attitude to camping is 'No way Jose'. Been there, done that, got the Tee shirt and it was bloody uncomfortable
Make me a definite maybe.

People don't need to camp, there's places nearby with rooms etc.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:24 pm A location I might actually make, although my attitude to camping is 'No way Jose'. Been there, done that, got the Tee shirt and it was bloody uncomfortable

I certainly hope so. A nice pub, or a posh hotel, either will do.weeksy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:27 pmPeople don't need to camp, there's places nearby with rooms etc.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:24 pm A location I might actually make, although my attitude to camping is 'No way Jose'. Well it's close to Swindon, Calne, Bristol, but I'm sure the Pygmy will have other locations too.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:40 pmI certainly hope so. I think the cross hands on the a46 has quite a lot of accommodation and has a massive car park. I used to meet up with scoobynet members there when i had my impreza before going to Castle coombe 10 mins up the road.Cousin Jack wrote: ↑Wed Feb 28, 2024 8:40 pmI certainly hope so. Also, there are some decent pubs in Marshfield about 20 mins back towards Bristol, if you book in there let me know as i know the owners of all 3 of those pubs as it's where i played cricket for most of my life, might be able to get a discount.
My gaff is only 40 mins away from castle coombe, it's yours for £1000 a night...

Devizes, Pewsey and Marlborough are all within 20 mins. Plenty of accomodation. There's a Travelodge on the All Cannings side of Devizes thats 10 min away and cheap as chips.Greenman wrote: ↑Thu Feb 29, 2024 10:12 amI think the cross hands on the a46 has quite a lot of accommodation and has a massive car park. Re: Forum Extravaganza ! Saturday 27th - Sunday 28th July - Castle Combe / Wiltshire.
Cheers all, and especially @weeksy
I'll be four or so rounds in by this one so hopefully will have a bit of a marker as to how I'm going, but as I mentioned, I am expecting to be a bit shit so don't think you'll get to be seeing me on any podiums, but will be great to see any / all of you, and having people there you know is always good for a bit of a gee-up ( and changing wheels etc ) too- will look forward to it, and I'll be trying!
As for my sleeping arrangements there, I've not really a camper these days and already booked into a place a few miles up the road in Chippenham, but if you do have an evening get-together at @G.P 's sister's place , or anywhere else, I will get across to wherever you are for a few beers in the evening
My current plan is I'll be there for the Friday test day as well as Sat and Sun race days to try and get my eye in as the last time I rode there was in 1988, albeit I have a big family wedding ( my eldest boy) down on the south coast on the day before ( Thursday) which is slightly unfortunate timing, just means I'll (probably ) be taking it a lot easier on the beer that day!
Anyway thank all and hope to see some of you there

Re: Forum Extravaganza ! Saturday 27th - Sunday 28th July - Castle Combe / Wiltshire.
We've got camping facilities for the weekend, they usually do a pop up campsite for August but this year they are just doing individual bookings so we can have the place to ourselves.
We can either do open field or camp in some nice woodland where there's a couple of long drops and a nice bar area (they will get a portaloo in too). - I'll get some pics, its cool.
Depending on who is riding we can organise beers / food to be available so you don't have to load up the bikes too much.
If we can organise a genny, we can hide it in the woods and have a decent sound system, there are no near neighbors apart from boats on th Canal.
Watch this space and I'll get some more details together. Can also include a rideout, its a lovely part of the world..
Bridge farm is marked on here:

It would be good to get an idea of numbers - I know its a way off but it'll help work out costs too.
