Lost Android - any way to track it?

Post by Noggin »

A friend just asked me if there’s a way to ‘track’ an Android if it’s lost

I’m an Apple-gurl and have no idea

So I said I’d ask you guys cos you’s is all super smart and knows every funk

But seriously, if anyone does know a way, that’d be awesome

xx

They have to have certain setting enabled, but they're pretty much set when you first get the phone, so unless they're a tad paranoid and turned it off they should be OK.

Just checked it for my phone and it reckons its the the building next door, not brill, but not far off and certainly close enough that I could find it if I set it to sound the alarm for 5 minutes.

You could call it and see if anybody answers.
Or if your friend knows the general area where it was lost, go there, call it and listen.

I think it must have been ‘taken’. He runs a local business, so I can’t imagine the phone being far from him. And if he dropped it whilst skiing I’m certain sure he’d have been back to find it!!

But I will check that he has done all that as well - just in case!! :D

I’ve passed on the info.

Apparently he’s tried Google but whatever needs to be activated on it isn’t

He’s about to look up the Samsung find my phone stuff to see if that works!!

Thanx guys xxx

Yeah, I've seen that utility on my phone but I don't use it because I've installed Prey instead. This is a handy little free app whereby you can track your phone using its own GPS function and internet connection, block its use and use the front facing camera to take pictures of anyone trying to use it.

You see a dog by the roadside, how does that make you feel?

You go to stroke it and it bites your hand, what do you do?

Well next time you'd ask, in a thick, faux-French accent, 'Does your dog bite?'....

I'll try and remember to tell him about that. Nothing he tried helped and so he's waiting for a new phone to arrive! Probably another android, so I'll tell him about the Prey thing x

You can use Google's Find My Device feature. Just make sure it's set up beforehand.
