Did you go straight from not needing/having reading specs to needing prescription ones? Unusual. (Happily I can use +2 'ready readers' and was OK with +1s for a while. The upside is that as the need for stronger reading glasses progressed I stopped needing distance/driving prescription specs  ).

Colleague brought something nasty to work three weeks ago, it’s being doing the rounds but so far I’ve escaped, I fear its only a matter of time before I succumb.

Fuck me sideways. As if having surgical instruments and all sorts shoved up my Jap eye wasn't enough, I've now got a bacterial infection causing any little nicks or cuts to become inflamed, swollen and pus-filled.
Currently restricted to my elbow and big toe, which has a 5p-sized ulcerated, festering, weeping wound on the top of it, and thankfully not my nob.
Been prescribed antibiotics, potions and lotions and an antibacterial body wash, which will hopefully stop the infection before any digits, or worse, drop off.

The Cosmic Joker is having a right fucking laugh at my expense lately. :angry-cussingblack:

If Elmo asks me how I'm doing he may well get a punch in his muppety face.

SCS Again.

Meant to be fitting carpets today but have had another message on phone saying they can't make it.

This is the third time they have cancelled now, near on 3 weeks without carpets and i have also moved all my coach tables etc into my dining room so don't even have a table or a seat to sit on.

VERY VERY ANGRY an am now going to get on the case of a refund and compensation.

I spent over an hour in a cold carpark trying to get the car as clean as possible for picking up guests. Experiance has taught me to find the closest car wash to the airport and do it there, as anymore than a fem KM's drive will almost definitely result in a comment of "The car needs a clean".

I get to the airport, spend another 20 minutes going over things, making it as mint as possible.

The plane was delayed (I thought having a private jet prevented such things??). Therefore by the time the guests came outside, it was dark

I have never needed glasses until a few months ago when I noticed close work getting difficult, the optometrist confirmed I just needed +1 for reading.
There's nowhere round here to buy them on a Sunday and I like varifocals which I can't get locally, thankfully they stay in place with one arm so I'm not desperate.

No: having a private jet allows one to delay one's departure, dalinks.

The entire weekend!

Saturday some burning wood fell out of our log burner, bounced off the hearth and landed on the carpet.
Sunday my wife moved some furniture on the landing and didn't like the divots left in the carpet, so used the steam iron to lift them out but left the iron down too long - now not divots but an iron shaped imprint as well.
Then shower in our en-suite stopped working, problem with the pump - £517 for the part!

Ah. Varifocals wouldn't be the sort of thing you'd find in the usual places. I'm thinking of trying something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reading-Glasse ... 441de&th=1as I frequently find myself wandering around the house wearing my reading specs.

I had some varifocals made (at  ££) and wore them for driving and hiking/map reading but disliked them - a lot. Should probably ask them to put +2s in the rather swish frames. :(

I did have some prescription specs for using computer screens (the distance is a tad more than for book reading) they also called them 'crafting' glasses but I was stingy with the lens material and frame costs and found them too heavy/prone to slide down my schnozzle. :(

Mustn't grumble though, the missus needs +7 in one eye  the other isn't too bad - makes contact lenses a bit of a challenge and requires high RI (expensive) lens material for specs otherwise specs look a bit, erm, asymmetrical! She manages to get varifocals made though.

Sat waiting near the airport last night for my missus's delayed flight. It's cold and I need to hang around for 10 minutes or so, so I leave the blowers on (yes, I know).
The fecker has drained its battery in 10 minutes and won't start, dead as a dodo. :angry-cussingblack: I wander round the really deserted service station looking for someone willing who might have some jump leads (mine are in the other car - why do I keep them in the more reliable car?) - nobody is about, anybody about was likely to have been scared off by the amount of swearing I'm doing. I think the sentiment of C*mS*ckingF*ckP*g translates into most languages. Folornly back to the car to consider calling Le AA in my Franglais. The annoying fecker starts straight up.

They say they are now 100% going to turn up friday and have given me £100 compensation and will give me another £200 if they do not turn up friday.

Shocked tbh the manager was quite helpful and offered the compensation quite easily.

They probably need people to wipe their bums too, but I'm not volunteering for that either.

Ahh I see the issue here. You think I'm a volunteer. I'm not, I get paid and a free apartment too.

Curious to hear that you think anyone that doesn't wash their own car, won't wipe their own arse either!

I think any public hire vehicle should be reasonably clean. If I were to get in and find it a bit of a state I'd make a mental note not to use them again. Same with the exterior: if I'm done up smart I don't want to get dirty strides from the crudy sill getting in and out.

Just a professional courtesy, innit? Fair play to Jody for making the effort.
