"Fraud Investigation" still taking place. In other words, they are taking the piss. I have spent far too much time on the phone to these shysters, so I've written it off. However, now that RM have lost the second phone, I have to wait for this investigation to finish (Royal Mail one) before getting my credit card to refund the cost as phone was not delivered.Yorick wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 9:30 pmDid the insurance cough up in the end?the_priest wrote: ↑Mon Nov 02, 2020 2:29 pm oooh bugger! The twat in the van behind me for way too long yesterday.
"why is he a twat Jody?"
because the prick had fitted about 10 blue lights to his radiator grill which
A, I thought was illegal
and
B, Should be as it was hugely distracting
because
C, they were really fuggin bright
Not what I needed when driving a flatbed, loaded to capacity, on B roads I don't know, when its pissing down with rain

No, I'm planning on going to Germany in it.
Apparently the company I bought it from aren't allowed to remove it, even though they added it in the first place, as that might been seen as them condoning speeding. I didn't bother suggesting they lower the limit to 56mph and then remove that lower limit.
I shall speak to my man at the garage tomorrow and if it can't be removed then I'll probably reject the vehicle under the sellers money back offer.

If it is limited to an indicated 70mph then the effective limit will be significantly under a real 70mph giving you a more legitimate reason to reject it.

Decisions will be made tomorrow, based on whether I can get this removed by the local garage.
If not it's a trip to the mainland and either get it removed by a dealer or hand the vehicle back. The seller is being very reasonable about it, which is nice.

BMP yesterday.....
Loaded my bike in the van and drove 6 hours + to Scunthorpe to swap for a DRZ400
Got to the guys's house, he's a scrawny little runt wearing tracky bottoms... we're not off to a good start when he says "just got to finish fitting the speedo cable"
Ohh great how long's this thing been running round with no speedo !!!
A cursory glance over the bike and it doesn't matter, fuggin thing is on a Q plate !!!
"Ohh sorry maaaate, I dinno now Q plate made a difference"
Fucking lying little prick
I get back in my van and drive the 6hrs + home
The only silver lining was waking up this morning, knowing I'd done the right thing by walking away

Something really minor but it irks me, there is an ad on the telly for Jane Plan and one of the people in it says all the meals are pre-prepared ... as if prepared didn't mean made already!

Co-codamol. Love it as a painkiller as it's the only thing stopping me climbing the walls with the pain in my jaw at the moment, but fuck me, does it clog me up...
Just spent 25 minutes giving birth to a 9lb turd. At one point I thought I might need an emergency caesarean.

ITV and fucking Ainsley Harriet!
Now, normally I don’t mind either but they have now shown the exact same episode of his new show on the idiot box for the last three days on the bounce. Surely they have some old inappropriate episodes of Alf Garnet they can drag out of the cellar rather than repeating the exact same shit day after fucking day...
Yes I know there are 999 other viewing options and an off button but that ain’t the point of this thread.

Or how about -
Pre-order
Pre-planned
Pre-booked
All linguistic and logical nonsense. But it persists.
One really obscene abuse of the English language was committed by a legal bod here in the Republic - "dis-improved". What happened to the good old reliable "worsened"?
And don't get me started on "signage". The plural of sign is signs. What's difficult about that?
Blundering about trying not to make too much of a hash of things.

Re: Insignificant/ Significant things that BYP or just wind you up a little
Good point.
Although for the stuff I'm sometimes involved with, a single sign might also need a frame to support it, sandbags to stop it blowing over, a lamp to light it up and a cone to hang the lamp on.
"Signs, frames, lamps and cones"
Can't see the industry changing ....
Also, it tends to refer to the entire layout, perhaps for a lane closure or diversion route, which might require several signs of different types.
So, for a lane closure, you might have a 'paddy board', 4 'wickets' (all different), '610's, and a 'horse jump', some of the signs also having 'sup plates'. Plus associated gubbins as above, and a few more cones and other lamps.
Even bland can be a type of character

But they don't mean the same thing. To dis-improve something you have to remove an improvement, there's no need to improve something before you worsen it.
Maybe.
