Garden hose, recommended me
Our hose was shit. The new one is shitter.
It kinks, it holes and I've cut it twice and it's now that short it's useless.
I don't want it to last 100 years, but a few years would be nice.

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
I bought some 'professional' hose...might have been Gardena or Hozelock. It's yellow and I think braided. It's about 12 times better than the cheap stuff. Doesn't kink or twist. The cheap stuff is a bit pants and I still have quite a lot of that.

Hang fire mate. When it's light tomorrow I'll have a look at what the good stuff I bought is. I only bought a few metres of it and put my own fittings on. The old green stuff got used as permanent installs buried in border edges etc connected to 2 4-way connectors on the outside tap so I have connections everywhere that I can connect the expensive length of hose to.weeksy wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 5:53 pm Might go with this this then

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
I bought a Hoselock from B&Q and only replaced it last year,as the reel had fallen apart and I wanted a wall mount. The hose was still useable, just a bit hard.
I've some thing from Lidl now,it's been ok so far.

Filly bought something similar, it's lasted well. It's on the side wall of the house. About 30m hose, so will reach the entire back and out the front drive.wheelnut wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 6:03 pm We’ve had this one for a few years now and it’s been spot on

The hose will kink, just need to be careful when loops occur.
As an alternative to CS's industrial grade, there are hoses which roll flat. They might resist kinking.

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
As mentioned, I've run several lengths of cheap stuff to various points around the house and garden. That's where they stay. I just connect the good bit at each point. (I've got a reel to reach the 'here be dragons' bit of the garden but that only gets used in extremis. I did buy a wall mounted, self-retracting reel years ago....but never got round to putting it on the wall and forgot where I'd put the mounting brackets and handle. (Found them last year ).Horse wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 6:35 pmFilly bought something similar, it's lasted well. It's on the side wall of the house. Re: Garden hose, recommended me
I bought the best available at the time, Hozelock Ultimate.
It's been brilliant for a good five years. Doesn't kink and hasn't degraded in any way. I put it on an existing portable reel.

I think that's what I've got and putting it on an existing reel is just the ticket.MyLittleStudPony wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 7:15 pm I bought the best available at the time, Hozelock Ultimate.

(Although I keep mine as just a big looped thing on a hook on the side of the tool shed).

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
Or not
Flat hoses are lightweight, drain well, and are easy to store. The downside of flat hoses is that they are usually made of vinyl, which means they kink easily and may not have a long lifespan.

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
You turn the tap on and it fills with water to it's full length, when you've finished with it all the water comes out and it goes back in the plastic tub it came in, so only buy the length you need, I think mine is a 30M one.
I've had mine a few years now, I try to make sure it's dry before I squash it back into it's tub.

Re: Garden hose, recommended me
Checked mine and it's Gardena Professional. Not sure they do it any more but it looks v like the Hozelock Ultimate.
