2 with a similar theme, though neither BMP just kinda puzzle me....

People who when at the supermarket checkout, pile their goods ever higher and higher, as if it will make the items get scanned any quicker.

People who while participating in eating challenges, stuff more and more into their mouths, rather than chewing what's already in there ??!!

DPD. Rescheduled a delivery to today so i'd be here to accept delivery. Followed the tracking until he's minutes away and then it says he was unable to deliver as there was no answer and the parcel cant go to a collection point so redleivery will be attempted on Monday. Lying bastard. He never came here. :x

People who hide stopcocks!
Just spent the last hour and a bit searching for the SC for the daughter's yard.
We found one that did nothing, 3 waterboard valves, no effect on the leak.
Got to speak to the guy who moved it 10 years ago, and he gave me a vague 'I'm pretty sure it's in the border'.
Started forking the border, bloody difficult to tell frozen ground from manhole, until you jump on the fork!
It had to be a good 8-10" underground. Spent a good 10 mins or so digging it out........a bit of wd and success!

One of my two successes (no fails) at dowsing was a 'lost' pipe stub under a mate's garden. He'd buried it for later use, then altered his garden.

Our stopcock is in the front garden. They are about a meter down and we have a long iron handle/key thing to turn it off. But the hole its in is full of mud that has seeped in over the years (1930s built bungalow) and everyone else in the street that has tried has had a disaster as they always break when turned.

When we were having a new bathroom fitted, I contacted Essex and Suffolk water to see about getting it replaced ahead of it. I rang and asked for a quote and they said there no charge as the stopcock is their responsibility! They were pleased i'd rang, as they rather schedule the works than an emergency response. Sure enough 2 weeks later a crew turned up and replaced it and you'd never know they'd even been there!

That's your supply stopcock, you should have one inside the house ( usually very close to point of entry) usually under the sink, quite often hidden behind the new kitchen units!
As daughter's place is a stud yard, slightly different layout! I'm wondering how ST read the water meter, as it has lain undisturbed for at least 10 years!

A mate had a concrete drive removed and block paving installed. Except the gas pipe was too shallow.

He phoned up, to ask about getting in sorted.

"We'll only come out if it's leaking."

No, he said, I'm trying to prevent that happening.

"I said WE WILL ONLY COME OUT IF IT'S LEAKING!"

Ah.

Bang. Hissssssssss

Bring Bring We've got a broken pipe, it's leaking.

"Be there right away, sir"

Done for free.

Don't cars have 'hill assist' now? Ours is 9 years old and has it.

Insurance companies.

Wifey got a new motor so I can have my old Fabia back.

The insurance company want an extra £306 to change from my current Peugeot.

But when I go onto the Meerkats, the same company wants less than I already pay for the present motor to insure the new one.

Minimum £80 to cancel the policy.

They have the actual cheek to say that small modern cars with extra safety features are cheaper to insure. Yes, that's why you want 300 quid for changing from a 23yo French biscuit tin that doesn't even have an airbag never mind ABS or pretensioners.

They all seem to be rising. Camper bus and my work van were up for renewal last week. £200 on the bus and £300 on the van business insurance. The broker did phone to apologise and went away to find me a better deal. Few hours later he got me a company that will insure both. I am still paying more but only £100. Step Daughter was looking into insurance as she want to learn to drive in her mod 30's. Still almost £2000 :o Me thinks this is the start of the cunts pricing ICE off the road. Road tax up also later this year.

Some bod on the radio said it's down to increased labour and parts costs. Because of parts costs more cars are getting written off when they would have been repaired. eg £7000 for a replacement bumper (BMW iirc) because of all the sensors, lights etc. Marv. A sacrificial chunk of plastic that's there to protect the other bits is now reason to scrap a car.

I guess they spread the pain around so if you're driving an old banger you subsidise the folk with the £7000 bumper (which of course you could be responsible for hitting...that's the Fully Comp factor).

Oh yeah. Regarding 'pricing ICE cars off the road'....

"In general, electric car insurance is more expensive than insurance for fuel-powered vehicles. For many electric car drivers, this additional cost is well worth the environmental benefits and savings they gain by running an electric car instead of one that runs on petrol or diesel."
