What's your all time favourite album ?

For the guitarists on RTTL, I listed Pink Moon by Nick Drake and am slowly learning some of his work. His odd tunings are a joy to use, CGCFCE known as Nick's tuning in particular, plus many others; however Parasite is challenging my finger picking ability. Any tips on how to play this would be much appreciated. Practice, practice, practice is a given.

There are probably 10 others I could list, and on a different day the selection would be different, but...

Yeah, she's from Liverpool, the band from Shrewsbury. Met 'em in a local pub once when they were recording/rehearsing at a place nearby. But t'band is from t'Shrewsbury....geddit?

I read an interview with Hall and Oates, they just wrote songs, the record company decided which went on which album and even which songs were going to be released as singles in each territory, they gave no input at all, apparently.

I saw them four times (if memory serves) - first time in 1975 on the Warner Bros Music Show with such diverse bedfellows as Montrose, Doobie Brothers, Bonarroo and Tower of Power. They even had a 59p vinyl 12" sampler of all the acts. That was the year that LF blew the Doobies off stage at the Rainbow. I saw them at Manchester where they headlined; I remember the support (Montrose) as being painfully loud.

In 1976 I saw them twice - in May along with the Who, Sensational Alex Harvey Band, the Outlaws and Chapman Whitney Streetwalkers at Charlton Athletic Football Ground - all for £4! Then a month later they played their own headlining show at Birmingham Odeon, and this for me was the best show of theirs I ever saw. They played no less than 6 encores as the crowd just wouldn't let them go. I remember Lowell scratching his head and saying 'you people are crazy'. Memories... One of the 3 best gigs I've ever been to.

I also saw them on the 1977 tour they did with Tower of Power as the brass section at Manchester. This should have been the best of the lot, but it was clear that things in the band weren't totally harmonious (understatement of the year) and they played a fair number of songs off their most recent (and weakest) album, Time loves a hero. This was the tour that was recorded for the live 'Waiting for Columbus' album. It was still a fine gig, but nowhere near as good as the Birmingham one. But then the Brum gig set the bar almost impossibly high.

That was the last time that LF toured the UK (at least, that I know of) and for me it was the end of an era, as Punk/New Wave was just around the corner and everything would be upended. But Little Feat were something seriously special and Lowell George could play slide guitar and sing like an angel, albeit a chubby, gravelly-voiced one...

I stopped at 'Down on the Farm'. Know what you mean about 'Time Loves a Hero', it was a bit 'slick' - but I liked it anyway.

(My name on another forum was 'Gunboat Willy' which is one for the afficionados - Nobody ever commented on where I got the name from).
