Really? I'd have thought that a few hard core educators would be a blessing vs some of the fluffy minded, Liberal Arts, gender-sensitive twonks that seem to be de rigeur in education now. You make it sound like actually educating kids is a bad thing.Greenman wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 4:47 pmlol.
I find the longer a teacher has been in education the more likely they are to be like you say.
I get on with almost everyone but some of the older militant hardcore educators i tend to just have to put up with. They, as you might not expect, are normally the ones fucking it up for the most who just want to give the kids a good education.

These days yes. The majority just want to educate and not have to jump through hoops all the time with silly policies that are so broad to fit 'all types' that they might as well just literally exist to make teaching harder. The hardcore disciple types just seem over the top these days, IMO that is a role for SLT not all teachers that have been teaching for ages and are still enforcing laws from 1965!Count Steer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 15, 2023 4:52 pmReally? The new thing in teaching is AI. TeachAI mostly, as teachers just don't have time to do the job in the way they have to anymore without burning themselves out, just like our NHS, just like our Police service, it's all under so much pressure, in this instance AI can help plan lessons, set out LO's etc and also help massively with pupil progress reports.
I don't think many lessons will be planned away from AI within the next 5 years, which is sad tbh!

Re: Common Sense
Not much room left in education for common sense. Education is prescriptive, with the DfE and OFSTED waiting to jump on any common sense. And parents who 'know their rights' but don't want to know about responsibilities

25 or so years ago, parent overheard telling her 7 yr old "You do what you want, they can't touch you."

Common sense is what whiney old bastards claim to have had all along despite ample evidence to the contrary.
