My missus test drove a California. She has no interest in cars and how they drive, but she said its wasn't actually that nice to drive and unremarkable.
All these types of cars take some considered input, so I get that. I drove a "Magnum" Ferrari (308?)when i was in my 20s. ISTR it was very cramped, bumpy and noisy and I couldn't wait to get back into my XJ6!

That's why the only Ferrari I actually want is a racing car, and even then I'd rather have a Porsche 917/10

I'd have a Ferrari over a Porsche, regardless of model, everyday of the week.

Its not so much a use for it as such, it's more accurate to say its more it'd be a bit of a problem to lose the Velar, as its the car we use to go out with and ferry the older dependants around in, as they struggle getting in and out of the wifes Mini Cooper.

The Velar is frivolous enough though. I've had it over a year now and only done just under 1900 miles in it. It cost a fortune to tax and now I pay for the extended warranty each month as well. I'd be better to chuck the old people in my camper which i use a lot more than the velar! :D

My wife's dad struggles to get in and out of the RR because it's so high up.

I don't know what your camper is like but if that was the only thing holding me back then I'd use the camper to ferry the old 'uns about and chop the Velar in for the Ferrari. I don't know about you but I get a big buzz out of some of these punctuation marks in my life where I tick a box on a goal/dream that I thought I would never reach. Having a California sitting on my driveway (even if you were never going to keep it for long) to tick a box, would put a big smile on my face for a long time.
Velar has air suspension so drops down when you stop or you can just change the ride height manually. Bit like an old citroen BX reaally! :? :D

The camper is a pain in the arse around town or to park anywhere as its a high top LWB Ducato. So to use the camper to ferry the olds to the local hospital etc just wouldn't work.

Not saying the Ferarri won't happen, but I do have to remind myself I'd probably struggle to get in and out of it and look like a right knob doing so! :? Never really thought about punctuation marks in my life, but i think it's fair to say, i'm a pretty lack lustre and ambition kind of person!

We move in completely different circles mate and I just don't think the same way. I don't know anything about psychology or reward loops! I'm not a particularly driven person, lazy if anything! So I wouldn't see owning the Ferrari as any different to owning the Velar. I'd own something I like and thats an end to it for me. Most people I know don't even know I have a Velar as the wife's Mini is our daily driver and that's what they se me in. People only know i have the camper as we've posted holiday pics of us away in it.

Its one of the most favourite bikes I've ever owned, yet the most neglected. :wtf: This was in part due to my laziness, but also a lack of time at weekends hasn't helped. To be fair its only in the last few weeks its got that bad. Incredibly, I've missed a lot of the rains we've had until recently, and it never looked that dirty, but when I was putting the lock and chain on it this morning I gave it a look over and thought, fook, its time to call in the big (cleaning) guns!

You'll get away with Summer dirt to a certain extent, but the Winter salted roads will do permanent damage very quickly,if neglected.

Yeah, s'why I'm getting the ACF50 treatment. The bike is primarily a commuting tool, so as long as I can get grip, i'll go, regardless of weather... 8-)
