I'll take a punt at 'Electronic Shelf Label' and bank on a typo further up.

On the making happy front - youngest daughter started her first proper part-time job about three weeks ago in the clothing dept. at Sainsbury's. Yesterday evening's shift she found herself alone in the dept. the whole time but just got on with it.

Very proud of her.

It proper made me laugh!!  I've got two FB groups now searching all the Fronch Lidls to see if they can get the same Cheddar de Somerset!! :lol

KungFooBob wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 3:27 pm Your Lidl doesn't have e-paper SEL's.

Is the UK actually more advanced than Fronch?
Can't imagine so! But, I don't know what e-paper SELs are?!
I had to Google but I suspect SEL is 'Shelf Edge Labels' and e-paper is LED stuff so they can rip you off electronically by changing SELs and the price as you approach or after you've bought something.

Oh, brave new world. :(
Aaaaah. Ok.

Well, @KungFooBob the Fronch supermarches most definitely have electronic shelf label thingies. I suspect that, since Lidl can't seem to match the products with most of the labels, they don't trust anyone to enter the correct details for the electronic pricing

I've given up trying with their 'systems' - if the price label doesn't match what I'm looking at, I don't buy it cos you can guarantee that even if I think I've found the right label nearby, the price will be wildly different at the till!!

Who needs SELs to stitch up customers :angry-cussingblack: :angry-cussingblack:

The first time I ever saw Electronic SEL's was in France (probably a good 10 years ago), they were LCD (like calculator displays ) and quite bulky, the e-paper ones in my local Lidl look brilliant. If you weren't an SEL geek, you'd never know they were electronic.

I will make some effort to remember to take a photo of the non-offer price tags! Not much effort TBF! I generally have the memory of a squashed goldfish!

These technology innovations have completely destroyed the pricing gun industry :(

I have a savoury tooth rather than sweet tooth, but once or twice a month a buy a couple of bars of choc to put in freezer.
Farking lovely it is.
Got my 2 fave bars on way home tonight, then saw a mega sized strawberry cheesecake bar. Well, it's bloody scrummy. And HUGE

Got a right sugar buzz :D

So, I'm sure I mentioned that last winter my boss and I had a difficult few weeks and end of season. But, I have been chuffed that we were able to get past it as recently we've been back to laughing and joking at work again.

Today - I've just had a phone call from him. Not about work. But to sing me happy birthday!!

Not just happy birthday but happy birthday in English!! He and his wife called just for that!! How cool :D :D

It's a little known fact that French people shouting 'You're fired, you useless twazzock!' down the telephone repeatedly sounds remarkably like the English rendition of 'Happy Birthday to You'.

Fact.

Squid. I love it. Never been able to cook it though, well, until just now. Bought some raw frozen, squid rings today and threw some in a hot pan with chili and garlic and added some samphire too. Squid came out perfect, but i'd not bother with samphire again. I'm now enjoying the seafoody aftertaste with a warm chili glow around my mouth!

100% sure I have not been (although it seemed like a few of the 7 young (too young) men I drove from the airport to Val Thorens may well have been up for something along those lines 🤣🤣🤣)

However my boss did tell me today that he wants to talk to me about a permanent contract 😳😳🎉🎉

TBF, I did get a decent pay rise for this season after last, so he's pretty fair! Ok, I asked for it, but he said yes :D I'm still going to try and work 3 days a week as then I can do stuff like visit friends in other parts of france in the summer :D :D
