I don't get these wireless charging things, just plug the fucking cable in, it takes about 3 seconds.

Stop complicating your lives with things you don't need just to keep up with the IT crowd...;)

I had one as a present about 3 years ago which is still it its shrinkwrap!

I have an 'INTU' branded one next to the bed so I just chuck the phone on there every night, supports fast charge but not as fast as a dedicated plug-in fast charger. Car has a wireless charge matt too.

Both make life easier IMHO, just drop the phone on and it's charging - even converted my luddite wife over to using them.

Whilst also on the subject of AA, are we talking Android Auto or Android Automotive? Android Automotive is a far more integrated system than Auto...

I know this problem could be resolved by replacing my phone more often but...as the battery on my old phone deteriorated it got plugged into the charger more often and the socket in the phone got a bit iffy. So, wireless charging helps your phone to last longer. :D

Ha! I don't know actually :D

Having just Googled it, my car has essentially both  It has 'traditional' Android Auto branded as such, but then the native system is heavily Android based/lead anyway. Probably explains why it works so well.

This, 100%! My phone (like all the ones before it) is actually a hand me down from Mrs. D and is sometimes reluctant to charge from a wire.

You can wireless charge any phone, just by popping it in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Only works once though, so save it for a time you really need it

Is your Ovlov a Sensus or Google car? We've had both and the newer Google cars have a far slicker interface with better integration. Can't ever see the need to use a lead with a Google car, even the wifes iPhone integrates perfectly wirelessly.

Multi-USB power plugs tend to have a maximum output (say 4.2A), which is then distrubuted across the USB outlets - (sometimes each USB out has a maximum limit, sometimes not - depends on the quality of the unit). So - plug 4 things , all you'll get is 1A each, but if each outlet will handle "up to" 4A, then if you only have 1 plugged in, it'll get the full current.

Talking about inductive charging : We have a Philips electric toothbrush which charges using an inductive stand - it's the slowest charging thing I've ever experienced. The battery in it can't be that huge, but it takes well over 24 hours for a full "from nearly empty" charge to occur. Seeing as the thing is used twice a day, it never gets a chance for a full charge up so never lasts very long. It's dumb.

Got rid of my Ovlov years ago :D

My present car is German, made by the company I work for and way above my station. I only have it 'cause I get effectively 2/3 off the price  I've said this before, but it's the first vehicle where I actually use the voice activation in preference to the buttons, despite having the feature available in various cars for >10 years now.

My Ovlov is Sensus, reading about the replacement Android interface on the forums makes me glad I don't got it!

Seem that it was rolled out with only half the features and the current user base are actually beta testing it!

They recently turned on Wikipedia in my car's system  You can randomly just ask it "Tell me about...." and it'll read out the Wikipedia page on said subject

Perhaps slightly more useful is being able to say things like "Divert me to the nearest coffee shop" on long drives and it'll reprogramme the sat nav accordingly. It even gets the difference between "nearest" and "next along my route".

Pah, my 2019 car reads Wikipedia to you about things local to your location, that's old hat!

Yeah, some of the old duffers seem to struggle to adapt! We've honestly found it far better - the few bits missing are not missed at all...
We had lots of issues with a Sensus based XC40, breath of fresh air with the AAOS XC60....

My old (2012) car also had Android Auto, it's come on miles since then IME.

As above, my current wagon is the first one where I actually use the voice stuff. It's the first one where I actually use the live traffic info, the first one where I stream in the car etc. Despite actually being able to do it, on paper at least, in my last few cars. Same goes for things like 'active' headlights too.

It's the sign of good tech innit - when you don't even notice it's there and you just use it by default.

I use my pilot assist all the time, I don't know how I'd manage without it now. In fact it almost makes traffic jams enjoyable!
