Well, free to the team. For now. And I suspect there will be riders in some teams (there certainly are in BSB) who are paying the teams to ride. MM93 will still be earning pretty well from his sponsors, plus have a few quid in the bank. If he can acquit himself well he'll be back asking for big bucks next year when the scrap for works rides starts up.

Re: Marquez to Gresini...?
Young Marquez is surpassing expectations. Could be interesting to see the 2 of them slugging it out on same bike.
I cant remember having 2 brothers on a podium???

Re: Marquez to Gresini...?
The last two brothers to stand on the "premier class" podium together were Nobuatsu and Takuma Aoki: they took 2nd and 3rd place at the 1997 Imola GP alongside Mick Doohan.
- The only other occasion when two brothers met on the premier class podium was in Argentina in 1962, when Juan Salatino managed 2nd place and brother Eduardo finished third.

Re: Marquez to Gresini...?
I sort of assumed he'd stay with the VR46 brand.formula400 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 7:45 pmcould be good if they give him a few years to learn/developYorick wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 6:30 pm Another candidate?

I suppose he may have plans to go back to VR46 if/when they get factory bike status.

Re: Marquez to Gresini...?
He'd be mad. Marini has been slowly building into a quality rider and was unlucky this year due to injury. The current Honda would finish any progress. Factory ride or not,it won't be winning any championships for years. Maybe not even races.Yorick wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 6:30 pm Another candidate?

Re: Marquez to Gresini...?
Does this mean that a works Honda will have to carry VR46 on the side of it?
Can't see that going down well in Asaka!
I would imagine Uccio insisting on it though.

It's all a ploy to get Honda to finally release Valentino's 2001 title winning 500cc two stroke
