I like Stafford especially the race paddock full of old race bikes, had a good chat Ferry Brouwer one year when he was involved with the Yamaha historic race team. Then there's stands full of stuff that I'm interested in although even the Electrex people couldn't sort out anything for my XT600 unobtainium pick up...Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 2:37 pm
I've been to Stafford once and came to the conclusion that I was too young, thin and fit for classic bikes.

Re: Motorcycle Live 2023 at the NEC
I got incredibly bored of the bike show, and haven't been for a small age.
I'm likely going this year though, purely because bike shops STILL appear to be really crap at having a range of women's leathers to try on in stock (God forbid you want anything without fucking pink bits), and I could really do with some new ones.

The stock for men's leathers in most shops isn't a great deal better.Sunny wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 9:40 pm I got incredibly bored of the bike show, and haven't been for a small age.

I don't doubt it, but I'd argue it's considerably crapper for those of us with boobs - there's a biggish J&S opened up not far from me and it's got loads of riding gear, and then a tiny corner for 'ladies' with about three things in it.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 10:22 pmThe stock for men's leathers in most shops isn't a great deal better.Sunny wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 9:40 pm I got incredibly bored of the bike show, and haven't been for a small age.

Right, we have tickets.
I'm thinking the last Friday (24th) might be a good way to use up a day of spare leave and avoid the weekend crowds while also being close enough to the end to snaffle a bargain or two...

I didn't think much of the XSR900GP, it looks worse in real life than the pictures, riding position is very 1989 EXUP.
Best value bike I saw was the 4 cylinder ZX4RR, or whatever the new Kawasaki is called, a good spec sports bike for under £9K with 80bhp, the 600 is another £3K, and the 1000 another £8K

We got free cakes and coffee on the Kawasaki stand so spent a bit of time there.Potter wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 6:08 pmI thought it looked ace, a 1989 Exup riding position is a good description, that's what I was hoping for.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 6:06 pm I didn't think much of the XSR900GP, it looks worse in real life than the pictures, riding position is very 1989 EXUP.

Didn't spend much time on the Kwaka stand, there as some sort of interview going open when I was trying to look at the retro ZX10RRs and I didn't want to get in the way.

Re: Motorcycle Live 2023 at the NEC
Went today. Same old thing really but certain brands are definitely upping their game, nice colours aswel.
Nothing to see at Suzuki. Honda ok, Kawasaki ok, Yamaha best of the Japs. MT09 colour on show not to my liking, turquoise wheels i think. Headlamp was ok. Imo.
Triumph had some really nice bikes. Think the tiger 900 or 950 gt looked very nice. 400 scramblers were nice.
2 stroke Langen were there and I thought it looked ace, wish I could of heard it.
Norton v4 looked nice, as did the MV, Top prize for exhaust design by a mile.
But right up and possibly winning the prizes for me was bmws 1000xr. Paintwork looked lovely, they also had the full fat one, superb.
and finally the real stars or the show.
Good day had but traffic was a bloody nightmare.

The base model Ford Focus is £28.5k
It doesn't have anywhere near 200bhp.
Re: Motorcycle Live 2023 at the NEC
Went a ride over on the bike this morning, free indoor bike parking was nice. BMW , Triumph, Ducati and Yamaha stands were the highlights for me. Loved the new BMW f900gs in the flesh as I thought I would.
Hadn't been for years so it was a nice way to spend a few hours

Re: Motorcycle Live 2023 at the NEC
Been about 5 years since I last was at the NEC Bike show so went there today ,little disappointing. Plenty of bikes, nice to look at but as I got a new bike in January not looking to change it yet. Not a lot of quality clothing etc did purchase some winter gloves and also had moulds taken for new ear plugs, but I don't think I will go again bikes I can check out with the dealers for free kit is available through the internet or local shops which are a little more relaxed and if there is an issue you can go back easily and get it sorted.
