Motorcycle Live 2023 at the NEC
Who's going?
I'm going to try and persuade the wife, she's had a four year break since the last one.
Hopefully all the shiny bikes from EICMA will be there.
I might use it as an opportunity to try and blag a deal on a new Arai too.

Nope, I've used this years holiday quota and I'll be buggered if I'm going during the weekend

Definitely going, but not entirely sure which day. Probably midweek in an attempt to avoid the worst of the crowds.
There is no cloud, just somebody else's computer.

Arai are nuts money at the moment. £1400 for an RX7 now. I've had them for years and years, but decided to try HJC this time around.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 3:36 pm Who's going?

They're the same price they always were on Sportsbikeshop?Skub wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 7:17 pmArai are nuts money at the moment. £1400 for an RX7 now. I've had them for years and years, but decided to try HJC this time around.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 3:36 pm Who's going?

The RX7 doesn't fit me, the Quantic does.
I've managed to get £200+ off Arai list prices at shows before, I think the importer does a bit of price fixing and the resellers are not allowed to publish discounted prices of current models. However they will sell them much cheaper if you ask nicely.

Last bike show of any sort I went to was at the Ally Pally in the 90s. They hold no interest for rme, but i kinda wish they did and even dont get why they dont?

I've only been to the NEC show once, back in the early 90's when Honda launched that NR750.A couple of my mates were going so I joined them for a day out.
The weird thing is that I've been to quite a few Stafford Classic bike shows, the difference is that at Stafford I'm usually on a quest for some scarce part or advice, the NEC is just for new stuff that I can see in the bike shop.

Mike Hailwood (IIRC) said "motorcyclists are boring, all they ever want to do is talk about bikes".
But, actually, shows are often boring. Oh, so it's get a bigger cc engine and you've painted a stripe on the tank ... OK, I'll go and look at the stuff I can't afford, don't need, ....

How can you be semi-retired when you're a celebrity in the latest SHARP newsletter?
I expected your SHARP celebrity standing would have guaranteed your place in I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, but it appears your spot has been taken by Nigel Farage.

I've been to Stafford once and came to the conclusion that I was too young, thin and fit for classic bikes.Bustaspoke wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 9:29 amI've only been to the NEC show once, back in the early 90's when Honda launched that NR750.A couple of my mates were going so I joined them for a day out.
