I bought this as my other torque wrench stripped a reverse thread component, now this, when i set to reverse using the clicky jobbie, doesn't register a torque on reverse thread items. I can just about get it to register 7Nm, but nothing really else...

As in clicks too early or not at all? Sounds like it's defective, chuck it back.....

doesn't click at all in reverse threads. I'm testing it using a vice and an 8mm allen attachment. Normal way round, clicks fine 7nm, 20nm, reverse... Nada.

Most of the torque wrenches I have I just push the square drive through the head which in effect reverses the direction its measured. The internals (as far as the wrench is concerned) is just measuring the same way round.
I've not explained that well.

This Halfords one seems to do reverse threads too by the pushing of the doo-dah though (same as my 1/2")

See if you can blag yourself a Trade card whilst there. Tell them you are spanners boss for a cycling team and they'll probably oblige....

Got it... works perfectly well...

Bolt should be 25Nm, i'd say based upon a bit of testing it was about 21-22Nm where i'd set it without torque wrench, so no terrible :)
