Re: Rugby World Cup
Well that was scary!
When you have the 3rd place hooker getting a brace and off loading an inside pass to set up another, I think we can disregard the result against France.
I realise Italy are minnows, but nobody in the 6 nations puts 90+ points past them.

Re: Rugby World Cup
I've missed the last week of rugby but had to watch last night! At least there wasn't any kind of explosion over Donington last night (my Kiwi mate is at the BSB this weekend) as there was over S'ton when the French walloped them!! LOL

Re: Rugby World Cup
New Zeland making quite a statement last night. Typical AB performance, don't let up until the final whistle. They will have been so pissed off that Italy got a try at the death - I still think his foot was in touch before the ball was grounded mind.
I think think the bogtrotters might be a bit concerned about their chances of getting past the quarter finals. The only downside is that Wales will probably meet them in the semi final.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Both Ireland and NZ are masters of the 'dark arts', I just wonder how NZ will react when those little lay offs and turnovers dont appear.
Ireland are world no1, it's up to NZ to prove otherwise!

Re: Rugby World Cup
Yes of course. My comment was a reference to the fact that Ireland have never progressed any further than the quarter finals. In 2011 an Irish journalist wrote a particularly arrogant article before the Wales v Ireland QF, it's quite a read.

Wales won 22-10, Jonathan Davies scored a beaut of a try

Re: Rugby World Cup
Samoa really deserved to win. They played proper rugby, fast and fluid. England were wooden, and totally lacked any imagination.

Re: Rugby World Cup
Well Day-um!!! OMG. That was a seriously nail biting match!! (Literally ). I was totally torn as I 100% support Ireland but Scotland palyed so well and really tried to hold the greens back that I couldn't help but support them a bit too!! Was only when I checked with a mate back in the uk if Ireland would go through anyway that I relaxed a bit
Equally, I did cheer both teams, much to the confusion of the barman - there were only the two of us in the bar! Very weird, but still better to watch in there almost on my own than to be sat at home alone! Sort of
Well chuffed at the result - a bit surprised at the argybargy! Don't think I've see much of that and it seemed a little excessive for the foul. I mean, from what I understood it was a stupid foul, but really didn't need half of both teams getting into it
Thought there was a bit of off ball stuff going on later in the game too, but hey - overall it was a really exciting game and I am so so chuffed for Scotland. I love watching Ireland as they are almost clinical a lot of the time, their plays are fab; but to see Scotland hold off (quite often) a team that many think will win the world cup is freaking awesome after the last 20 (?) years

Re: Rugby World Cup
My Kiwi mate sent me the fixture for this coming Saturday!! Ireland v All Blacks I'm considering going to the valley to watch in English with other Brits!! LOL Not sure the atmosphere will be so good in a French bar!! LOL
But, it's gonna be tense with my mate if Ireland win!!

Re: Rugby World Cup
Samoa desparately unlucky not to win that. The disallowed try just before half time would have been given if it had been at the other end, and when even ex-England internationals like Ugo Monye say it should have been allowed you know that the officials have got it wrong
Scotland were shit. Finn Russel was given no time or space and that nullified their attack, they never even scored until the last quarter when Ireland knew the game was won and uncharacteristically eased off. I was expecting them to score 60. Hopefully NZ will ensure that Ireland continue their fine tradition of exiting at the quarter finals but I have a feeling they could go all the way to the final this year, and lose to FranceNoggin wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 10:04 pm Well Day-um!!! Re: Rugby World Cup
I haven't watched enough in the last few years to make that call. I was impressed that Scotland seemed to hold Ireland off quite often. But the different in the games was very noticeable - I just didn't know if it was different styles or that Scotland weren't very good!!Druid wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 6:46 pmScotland were shit. I do really hope Ireland and France are both in the final. I'll be proper uncomfortable sitting on the fence, but it would be awesome
Here's hoping they don't ease off in the last 15 mins against NZ!!!
