Presumably made on the same farm as those Cornish Game Hens (small chickens) Americans think are fancy.

I'm seeing more than green and white, theres black and (almost) red too! It's a Free Palestine watch!demographic wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 8:00 pmDidn't realise you were a Celtic fanMr. Dazzle wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 12:06 pmBought one!
I had a look around and found out they do/did Blue, Black and Green ones. They don't make the green one, t'was limited edition (of 5000!) any more but I like that one the best. I just bought a second hand on eBay, number 2744, for £100 off
Hopefully it'll actually turn up

The Palestinians have fields? I wonder where they keep them.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Well it arrived. It seems to be all here, the box has all the paperwork, it runs like it probably should...not that you can really tell in 5 mins of observation!
Quite a lot chunkier than I expected. I dunno why, I just didn't expect a £240 watch to feel "Big". For no reason.

I do like seiko automatic watches ( I have one - original divers style and a solar quartz Pepsi dive watch) - and I keep on hankering after another - but I have two many watches ( something like 12)Mr. Dazzle wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 4:09 pm Ha!
There were two. If/when mine turns up maybe I should flip it, I paid £240.

When yanks find out I'm Cornish they frequently bring that up...Mr. Dazzle wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 8:17 pm Presumably made on the same farm as those Cornish Game Hens (small chickens) Americans think are fancy.
*Is that where the Cornish game hens come from?*
"We don't call them that.."
*What do you call them?*
"Chickens"

I never really thought all that much about Seiko before TBH. I really like the Snowflake TBF, it's something a bit different with that really clever movement and when you see them in real life the workmanship is spectacular.Cousin Jack wrote: Wed Oct 11, 2023 7:55 pmI have 4. But yeah, been reading up about them a bit just out of curiosity seeing as how I parted with cash for one
They're the only mainstream watch brand besides Rolex who make all their own stuff, which warrants some respect IMO. They've also been going 25 years longer than Rolex. They strike me as something of a Lexus, Japanese people doing what Europeans do, just better! At least, on paper better.
Probably explains why you like 'em, Mr. Lexus driver

I'm Mooching round Meadowhell while the car is serviced, three shops have the blue one, all £350, but Ratners is showing it in the box with a keyring.... Obviously for your Cub key.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Sadly not
The ad did mention it and the fact he'd lost it.
The second hand watch shop here in MK has a blue one with all the bits. I saw it in the window last night. £350.
They've also got a 39k Rolex (not sure what it was exactly) and an 11k diamond ring with 1.91ct of sparkly rock.
I didn't buy any of those things.

IIRC theres cratain times of the day when its inadvisable to use the quickset date change thingy with them. Between 9 PM and about 02 AM? Better to check that cos I can't remember for sure.
I quite like Seikos in much the same way, they just do the job.
I can't get on with metal straps on watches, they never seem to be the right size through the length of the day so prefer the ones advertised as Nato straps (not sure why) as one strap goes under both pins instead of two straps each going to a pin.
Means if one pin comes adrift the watch is still there (flapping about a bit though) instead of "Somewhere back there".

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Ha...the only thing I'm not liking about this watch so far is the unadjustablility of the NATO strap
Most bracelets for example can be adjusted by links, then the clasp has a fine adjustment for the intermediate steps. On this strap one hole is a smidge too tight and the next a smidge too loose.
Being nylon I could just make a new hole with a hot stick, but then you'd have three really close together....
Probably gonna get a new one anyway to save rubbing off the Honda and Super Cub printing.

Re: The Official Watch Thread.
Just spotted this.
Why would you want a Super Cub Special edition, when you can have a Bruce Lee!!!
