Himalayan 452

Post by KungFooBob »

Water-cooled and 40bhp. Looks ok in the spy pics.

I've been looking at small trail bikes, but I reckon this could fit the bill and have some road manners at the right price.

Could be a good Tet bike , hopefully it's cheap ,reliable and not too heavy although that's a lot to ask for.
I wish Suzuki would bring back the DRZ with a few improvements.

I think you can still buy a brand new DRZ in the US.

Maybe it's the angle but the seat looks *really* low, almost VanVan low.

Compared to the bottom of the engine/chassis, yes.

But then it looks to have quite a bit of ground clearance, so probably needs that low looking seat to reduce the overall seat height.

21" front rim. So run a ruler over the pic?

Oh, no, that one looks great but I assumed it was an unofficial render. It's the top one I meant.

You're correct. Visordown say:

"The spy image - which can be seen here at Motorbeam - goes a long way to matching a render Indian publication Bike Wale claims was pulled together from reputable sources (below [that image])."

I’d not have ruled it out if it solved four problems the original has:

1. The screen was the most noisy and buffeting piece of shit I’ve ever ridden behind 🤣 Almost everyone of any height has problems even with ear plugs.
2. Ground clearance. It’s too low for uk rut-riding. Was constantly having my feet gouged off the pegs.
3. Seat height. It was too low for me at 5’11. Made my hips ache after 90 mins and meant my feet/legs were too far forward off road to paddle.
4. Power/weight. The weight was actually not a problem on its own. Yes it’s heavy to deadlift but on the move it was carried down low and added stability and grip. But…. It was dangerously slow. There was no zip for cheeky overtakes.
I like to not accelerate into an overtake until I’m out in the far lane. That way I’m accelerating into space not into potential danger (Did Spin teach me that!?! 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣). That is not an option on the old 411 🤣🤣🤣

I say “I’d not have….” Because it’s too FUGLY I think. The original looked like an old British bike. This just looks soft and weird imo. (Although that white/red/black mock up less so).

My guess is Itchy boots is being paid a fortune to ride the new one in the Himalayans as we speak, given how much she did to help the original…

I was going to get a Himalayan, but spotted the Brough Superior Pendine Sand Racer, so bought that instead. Said no one ever!
