Re: Tinnitus
I’ve had it on and off since I was 25, On holiday back then I went scuba diving and when I got back out the water, my ears were filled with water that wouldn’t drain out. Went to the doctor and she said I had very narrow ear canals that will get blocked easily by build of wax. I used to have to go and get them cleared out every couple of years, but as time has went on the interval between syringing has gotten less and less.
Anyway, it’s been two years since the last time and the doctors won’t do it just now because of the aerosol effect of the procedure. I’ve tried everything short of syringing my own ears, which I’m loath to do in case I burst my ear drum. It gets me down a bit a night time, I’m a light sleeper even at the best of times. I’m going to have to consider cleaning them myself.

Re: Tinnitus
Well apparently it ain't an acoustic neuroma and the ear doc sees no reason to see me again, just a simple case of one sided tinnitus.
But, the MRI has identified something that apparently I need to talk to my GP about

Cheers, it'll either be something that'll kill me or won't, no point getting getting worked up about it

Re: Tinnitus
I’ve now reached the stage where I’m going to get the mrs to do it. Last night it felt like I’d been to a Prodigy gig when I went to bed.Horse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 29, 2020 11:29 amA mate bought some sort of diy syringe/pump and his wife did his successfully.Craigyboy9 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 9:25 am... the doctors won’t do it just now because of the aerosol effect of the procedure. Re: Tinnitus
I have had tinnitus for as long as I can remember - TBH I didn’t know it was a thing. I have ringing in my ears all the time... but it is at a frequency that I ignore. So I feel for people who can’t. I never hear silence - but never had.
I now have very little upper frequency hearing ( but my tinnitus is high frequency - kind of odd) - I think if I every heated silence it would feel a bit odd.

Re: Tinnitus
Well that was anticlimactic.
Seems my brainbox ain't quite wired the same as everyone else's hence the 'unusual blood vessels' comment from the consultant, talked it through with my doc today and it's just a case of some blood vessels and arteries not being where they should be.
It's nothing that's going to pop and leave me to wake up dead one morning, at present they are very close to some nerves, not impinging, so whilst it may be having an effect on my tinnitus it's thought to be very slight and nowhere near the risk required to move em.
So I'm cracking on and forgetting about it, and I'll cope with the bastard high pitched ringing in one ear the same as everyone else does.

Re: Tinnitus
I don't know whether mine fluctuates, but currently i'm finding it less of an issue than a few months ago.... Whether that's up/down or my brain getting more used to it i don't know. But there are times now where i barely notice it for a few hours. Rarely does it 100% go away though unless im very much concentrating on something else.MrLongbeard wrote: ↑Thu Nov 05, 2020 1:05 pm So I'm cracking on and forgetting about it, and I'll cope with the bastard high pitched ringing in one ear the same as everyone else does.

Of course the worst thing is thinking 'hang on I can't hear the usual ringing' which usually brings it right on back.
Best thing I've found for me is to have a little desk fan running close by, does the best job of distracting my brain into forgetting about it

Re: Tinnitus
At least you know it's not bad schitt going on. The odd whistling sound when it's quiet is way preferable to bad schitt going on.
