Buying a Honda has got me looking at AMA Honda race pics, I'd forgotten what a great picture this is.

If I ever bought a CB Honda it would be getting that paintjob.

I missed this first time around,so here's a little more info on Peggy. She sounds a remarkable lady.
https://www.oldbikemag.com.au/peggy-hyd ... uCc_jyLuyM

I was speaking with a chap today and this is what he told me.

"I know Peggy well, she even wanted to borrow my H1-B a few years back to race at a classics meeting at Phillip Island". "Given my bike was a resto., I wasn’t up for having it raced in anger". "Eventually she got my mates H1-B for the meeting". "She was in her early 70’s at the time"!
I love this bit of the article, the fact that the guy she beat on track (that didn't fall off) was laughing so much at the others not being able to get past her!! -
but Peggy had fire in her belly as she tore through the field. Again, The Australian Motor Cycle News takes up the story. “On lap two she took the lead from Jones, and then, trying to save face for the male sex, he slid off on the third lap to retire. From then on Hyde had two seconds from Blake, who made a desperate attempt on the last lap to regain male honour but went down too, coming off at Shell Corner!” Peggy still laughs when she recalls the race. “Jeff Curley got the greatest fun out of that race because he’d been watching these young blokes (Blake and Jones) coming on with their modern machines and he was out there battling with a Triton. I got a bad start in that race and I must have passed Jeff early in the piece so he saw the whole thing unfold. I actually did an extra lap because once before I’d been cheated out of a place by a steward putting out the wrong flag so I did an extra lap to be sure. So when I came in there was a mob of people there including Jeff and they just looked at me – I wanted to get back to my pit but I couldn’t because of all these people. Jeff was belting me on the back and laughing – I was breathless because he kept belting me and he said ‘They all fell off! They all fell off!’. From his point of view it was the sweetest thing because these were the young blokes he had been fighting with – I passed them and then they fell off trying to pass me back!”

I don't think I'd ever heard of Peggy until this thread. But, WOW!
Life is for living. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake. Ride the bikes. Just, ride the bikes!! :bblonde:

The seat was further back on twin shock race bikes, have a look at the early TZs, the seat is miles back, I had a brief go on an early 250, I remember it being a stretch to the bars compared with an LC.

That's that there Agostini at Cadwell's Mountain.

To be fair, that's about as easy as it gets...

I wonder how many of those Humpty Go-kart coats became tangled with the chain and sprocket.

Definitely not cool in itself but I'm pleased to see it - one of my brothers sent it to me earlier today.

Aughton mx track 1982 when I was 11, I think. That was at the top of a climb before you judge me for lack of air :)
