My ditch pump bikes (and my ditch pump 406) just get whatever the supermarche is selling at rock bottom - I think it's even labelled under their 'Eco' brand. And I change it when I feel guilty.
My rather more sensitive sports coupe gets some overpriced really specific semi-synth - and I actually write down when I last changed it so I don't forget and miss a year or a 10,000k.

I change my oil and filter about halfway through service intervals or before a tour. With the Street Triple(s) and 6k service intervals I changed it roughly every 3k miles. The Speed Twin service intervals are 10k. I changed the oil before going to the Picos/Pyrenees when it had around 4k on the clock and it's going for its 10k service next week, even though it's only got 7k on the clock, and I'll change it again in the spring before I do some more touring.

I always get Castrol Power 1 from Amazon and as I live near Wemoto I pop in there for a whatever filter fits.

...this reminds me, I've got about 30l of used engine oil in my garage which really needs to be taken to the dump

You do realise that the exhaust gas is about 50% steam, right?

On the Bonneville I change oil fairly often. I would say "by the book", but them books are remarkably inconsistent. CBR is by miles.

Car - I let the car tell me Oil change on that is fantastically expensive anyway, lots of very swish oil.

Can't remember ever changing any oil in bikes or cars. I'm sure I did on something as I can remember watching it drain (probably the CX as I did stuff like valve clearances on it too). I think I did the oil on a Lambretta once too.

In the last couple of years I've taken a punt on using oil from 'none of the above'; i.e. independent refiners without the big brand names of Shell, Motul, Castrol, Duckhams, Mobil, Redline etc. etc. I've started using oils from Smith and Allan (https://www.smithandallan.com) and pocketing some substantial savings. Of course, I've no way of knowing if I've done the right thing or not until one of the vehicles goes bang with smoke and metal everywhere. Or not.

Typically I do it annually. Certainly for the last few years as the GSXS was under warranty. Before that I did the 690 Duke annually at first for the warranty and then kept that up as it only held 1.8 litres of oil in a highly tuned single which did burn some oil anyway so I figured oil changes were cheaper than rebuilds. Prior to that I had older Jap bikes with typically 3-4k mile service intervals so that was typically annual as well.

Not sure next year. In theory the GSXS will be due a service by the annual schedule but I'll only have done about 3k miles and the mileage interval is 7k. However I suspect I'll do oil and filters myself cos yeah it's cheap and easy enough to do.

My car I always just get done annually as I do it with the MOT. Pre covid I was doing 12k a year. I'm now doing about 6-7 but just think clean oil is good oil so yeah. Then again I think the last MOT and service was £212 which was a lot cheaper than getting the GSXS an oil and filter plus 'checks' at the main dealer.

Remember it well- as I remember it, typically you were either a Castrol or Duckhams man (or woman ).

My old Dad was Duckhams- I was Castrol
