Do you mean the mighty Dacia? How very dare you! :D
Not the mighty Duster but the mysterious thing with the sun symbol. However, the mighty Duster actually makes the house look smaller, being close to it, while the cat makes it look proper palatial, so I'd lose the car and deploy the cats for a better sense of scale.

Yoz. If you look at Villa rental pics, you'll see how they over saturate colours and really punch them out etc. So that's what web guys would do t yours, like below. It looks gash to me, but thats more of the market style if you're advertising it. Like I said, its not the angles Id have shot it from but you get the gist. Also, take shot in fading light with every light on. You can add the lights in Adobe Lightroom but if you haven't got it, you can do it physically. Mimic the top photo.

And for the love of God, don't have any of you in Speedos lounging by the pool.
Yeah that's for the patio burner/BBQ.
We're gonna screen that off soon.

This is the current photo we have in the advert. We've stopped holiday letting the apartment temporarily while they build the house next door. So no rush

I'll try what Taipan says when I get home

If you're 'selling' staying there, what's more important, pool or driveway?

You need to 'sell' the perfect holiday. Pool lifestyle, etc. Or do people ask about how many cars they can park? ;)

That's why I say lose the car. The car is dominating the picture and blocking the house.

I see you have steps going up to the house, thats always a good shot. Go as far right as you can and work on framing them in, looking up them. Abstract often works. E.G. A picture with keys on the entrance hall table as the dominant foreground, shows fook all about the house, but psychologically people feel they are at home. Its why tables are always dressed and never empty. If you're showing internal pictures, always shoot at night with low lighting and always dress your scene with tableware, drinks etc.

Have shufti at these articles to get a brief idea of composition.

To be honest, that shows the driveway with a dog stopping us from going further.

Take TP's advice and
- take a photo at dusk, so there's light in the sky
- lights on in the windows
- view across the pool
- lanterns, candles, whatever
- table, wine bottle, two glasses

Walk around, frame the view.

Can you get:
- foreground, table & bottle
- midground, pool, twinkly reflections
- background, house, enough ambient light to see it, lights in windows
- distance, deep blue sky

What are you trying to sell.

This is a phone snap, sunset at a wedding reception.

So the important elements are sky (roughly 2/3), glass of bubbly, location.

Well, Elvis looks as magnificent as ever, even without the Raybans  ..but it makes the house look a bit small/distant in the pic and it obvs isn't small. It's the house/apartment that is the star of the show. Less blockwork drive, more house would be my assessment, stay low for the shot but move in a bit, then the tree (which everyone's mind thinks 'tree=big therefore house=hooge) figures a bit more prominently....but TP is the professional and I'll bow to his mastery. :D

Edit: Oh...Hoss seems to know a thing or two as well. ;)

Spot the differences.

One shows the house, the other shows the driveway.

Is there a reason for picking this view of building? To be honest, there's a lot of blank wall and very little 'interest'. Is there a reason for not showing the pool, etc.?

I've also adjusted brightness, contrast and colour saturation.

It's good that the o/s lights are starting to show. Could you enhance that by having interior lights on? Currently the windows look dark and blank.

Was this an evening photo? You could try early morning too.

I had a bit of a play around with the image too, but thought I'd leave it to you expert types

I came up with a near identical pic! Woot! (I'll post it up later).

Good point about the viewing angle. Maybe a shot with the steps and an open door* making it look welcoming (Elvis on the top step with dicky bow awaiting guests :D ).

I guess because houses are designed to keep the sun/heat out those big facades and small (cf cooler places) windows can look a bit forbidding.

* I know that's probably not the tenants door but artistic license y'know.

I wondered about that too :) Part of me thought "too cheesy" but then you're trying make it look a place you want to be.

And there's something odd about the perspective. The top left wall looks to be leaning out slightly :?
