Citroen DS 3 Blue HDI
Anyone got or had one? I need a small runaround and one of these has come up at the right age, price etc. Nice grey colour, none of the silly girls colours.
Googled reviews and stuff but just wondered if anyone has any real life experiences of them

Not the HDi, we had a rag top THP for a while, bags of fun, well planted round corners, surprisingly for Citroen, nowt went wrong in the 2 years we had it. Sold it because the Doris had a lead filled right boot and was fearful of getting speeding tickets.
In terms of the rag top, boot was useless, in fact worse than that you could barely get a shoe box through the letterbox slot boot opening.
Daughter however had one for 7 days, on our assurances they were fun, cheap and reliable, had engine management light on within an hour of bringing it home, back to garage for them to ‘replace a sensor’, back one day before a red warning light ‘stop’ and ‘overheating’ etc on the dash. Garage picked it up, gave her the cash back with barely a murmur. Can’t remember if it was petrol or diesel though.

Only had a DS3 HDi as a courtesy car but I was really impressed with it, drove very well and IMHO look smart too. Friends son actually has one and he's happy with it, his dad is a car snob so can't be bad if he purchased it!
My ex-step daughter has a C3 which was purchased new in 2014, that was also a really nice little car - she still has it now and its been faultless.

Bought it, 2015 with 40k miles, all the toys except leather, drives nicely and is being delivered for the price too. Paid £5k, happy today as the Z4 can now be used less to keep the miles down and I may be able to get out of the village when it’s icy or snow!!
Happy day, now to start stripping the forks on the Sprint as my cleaning of the seals didn’t totally fix it!!

Citroen are the top of the quality when it comes to Frenchies, but they're still part of PSA. Sensors are notoriously weak, electrics not so really-it's those blardy sensors. So you have to take diagnostics with a pinch of salt! Engines will prob still be running after the nuclear apocalypse. Corrosion usually sees them off 1st
You know my usual paranoia about DPFs which I assume are now largely nixed due to it being a 'blue'. That said, & esp if you are using it as a runaround, I would once a month or so run the tank low as, 1/2 fill up with Shell V Power & take it for a down a junction's length of a motorway. Actually just do the run & leave the Shell for the 2 weeks before the MOT.
I would have thought by now there would be DPF removals (beware of these-as of now it just has to look like the bulge is still in there, but who knows what's coming, so keep the original at all costs) & remaps available from the usual forums. If you do go for a remap for heaven's sake upgrade the air pipes intercooler <-> turbo, because the factory standards can split or even collapse. It'll transform the car though.

Cheers Ed, bought it now, the upgrade sounds interesting though. I will look into that. Nice drive so far, comfy, fairly quick and very economical as far as a couple of days of ownership can tell.
