So. Ford, Landrover and Toyota for the win.
Oh, and don't have a head on with a concrete wall tailgating you!!!

Re: Head on collision
My take was that I should be buying an American tractor unit as soon as possible.

Re: Head on collision
Mortimer Road, or as us locals tend to call it.. the strines.
Great bit of road, most of it was resurfaced for the Tdf a few years back.

Hope you never meet a car head on in your lane.KungFooBob wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:16 pm

At least that chap cleared the vehicle.
Happened to me once (once was enough). Must’ve been the late 80s, at a large junction at Eaton Gate SW1. A courier van, in a hurry, took the traffic island on the wrong side. Hit me head on. I cleared the van and must’ve pirouetted mid air as i ended up in a press-up position facing the opposite direction. Everything went dead silent and hazy, just as in a few scenes in Saving Private Ryan. Then, as i picked myself up, all hell broke loose: honking horns, & people screaming ‘get out the fcking way!’ I was shaken, but fine and not half as shocked as the courier who’d hit me, who was pale & visibly trembling. The z650 was totalled.

Re: Head on collision
I went over the top of a 5 series pulling across my lane to go down a drive way, I cleared it like a pro... Apparently. I don't remember much.

Re: Head on collision
I ride with a Helite airbag vest these days. People have questioned the value. I think it's in that type of crash that there would be real benefit.

Re: Head on collision
That's like the crash in 2001 that ended my courier career, bike coming the other way, lost it and took me out, I saw the bike sliding straight at me and hit the brakes, did a stoppie like the guy in the vid and when the impact occured I did my superman bit like the vid.
Fooking sore.
