Food that everyone else raves about, but you just can't stomach.

Post by gremlin »

For me, it's Pie 'n' Mash:
https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/2023 ... -fast-food

Have many a mate who sees it as a thing of wonder, a lunchtime treat to be appreciated. Double pie, double mash, liquor...shake a load of vinegar on it!

Whenever I've sampled it, it's leaden pastry, over-salted gravy filling with one or two pieces, if you're lucky, of tough beef (?), with lumpy mash and a thin, green sauce with little or no taste that swamps everything.

FFS, if that's the best the London can come up with....

Vegetables.

I can manage the odd chip, if they're cut thin enough, other than that I don't touch the stuff.

Seafood, particularly shellfish. And I live in one of the #1 places for flipping oysters. Nope, not for me. And I don't care for the way they cook mussels round here either, literally 20 seconds under some pine needles. Yuk.

Cakes, biscuits. Sugary, floury stuff. In fact puddings in general.

I sometimes order another starter instead of dessert.

Beetroot. Absolutely disgusting. Sprouts are another thing that should be banned.

Floury baps, who the heck thought they were a good idea, I know lets make this bread and then chuck a load of dry flour on it to get everywhere and get claggy in the gob. :angry-cussingblack:

Celery, cucumber, Bovril cubes and vegimite.

Each one makes me heave; collectively would make me sick.

I like shellfish, but if I eat too much, I fart and shit myself uncontrollably. The problem is I've never found out how much is too much, thus ruining several pairs of pants.

I now give it a swerve completely.

That London pie and mash is utter shit, lumpy tasteless potatoes, sodden pies full of gristle.....probably suits the cockney londoners of the time with no teeth, or taste.
