Royal Enfield 350 classic

Post by Dodgy69 »

What you reckon...?

I keep looking, watching tube reviews and thinking. They're a chugger for sure, but on the little lanes, country pub stop, I reckon it would fit well. 70mph max but happier 55/60 it seems. 200 miles to a tank, brilliant economy. None of this matters of course.

The 500cc was stopped in 2020 I think, so new it's 350. 20bhp but that's fine. Crf250 is 23 I think and that did fine. It's quirky, well-made apparently, wouldn't want pillion seat and I reckon looks nice. Jeans, jacket, helmet, go...I'm very tempted.

Some nice secondhand one's about aswel, but colour is very important. I like the gun metal or signal green. Think I could move things in the garage and make space. We will see. πŸ‘

I prefer them with spokeydokey wheels.

I enjoy my 500 EFI, but I'd want a good test ride on the 350 to ensure the performance was adequate.

Yep, I prefer the spokes. Think it's a matter of seeing in the flesh for preferred colour. Don't see performance being an issue, it hasn't got any. That dont matter, it'd be my B/UC road wobbler. πŸ‘

I'll go for a look soon and test ride before I dive in.

I had a 350 RE cruiser as a loan bike about a week ago, and I hated it. Underpowered and just horrible

The only speed that it felt comfortable at was 35-40 cruising on empty roads. It was pants on fast dual carriageways, and equally pants on tight nadgery lanes.

If I was in the market for a plodder, I think the 500 trials rep, specifically the green framed silver bike is what I'd pick. You can't get the 500 new any more and it's not as refined as the newer 350, but you still get a rear disc and ABS and it's a very pretty motorcycle.

My mate had the WW II Flying Flea replica & he loved it,he also had a 650 Interceptor,I had a few hours on the Interceptor & enjoyed it.He offered me a ride on the Flying Flea bike but I declined. When I want to go for a ride on a single cylinder bike again I'll get my old XT600 running.Have you not considered a classic Japanese thumper or trailie?

Been looking at lot's lately. Current state of mind says, modern bike, old looks is the way forward. The RE 350 classic is right there and fulfills my needs. I've seen the trails and they are nice enough, not many about mind.

I sat on a bullet 500 the other week and it just seemed to tickle my balls in the right way. Plenty different enough, 350 or 500 not bothered.

I'll have a look at some, see what pop's up on ebay and go from there. πŸ‘

Where you at Dodgy?

Are you west midlands, I'm sure you'd been to SBF at Macc... is somewhere like Ladybower or Castleton doable for you?

I'm happy to venture that far on my Bullet if you want a go.

Cheers kfb, might take you up on that. Tomorrow I'm probably gonna go to Stoke and Stafford, 2 dealers and might try to scrounge a little test on a new 350. As normal for me, irl viewing, mind can change. πŸ‘

Are you going to Jones & Alcock in Stafford? They are quite literally just 100 yards down the road from where I used to live. Say hi to Jim for me and tell him that Graham has restored his LC and will pop in some time soon... :)

Well not long got back. Potteries motorcycles then onto Jones and Alcock, Stafford.

Stoke have a very large showroom and a good selection of REs. But like many these days, the salesman don't know much and no bike to test but I'm very much liking the 350 classic. Colour is the main decision. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

On to Stafford, bit of a detour as I joined M6 North instead of south. Mong moment. 🀫 However, Jim at Jones and Alcock was brilliant. Given a cuppa the moment I walked through the door. @mangocrazy message was sent and not sure Jim believed the LC was back together.

Anyway, he's a busy man and everyone's looking at the REs and he kindly let me take a 350 classic for a spin. Gave me a tenner, get petrol and go, very nice.

Bike is lovely to ride, very upright and comfy, felt no vibes, sounds nice, very happy and as expected. It doesn't pull your arms off, but for chugging about the lanes I would say it's the perfect bike. Over 200 miles to a tank, 100mpg.

Almost did the deal on my return but can't decide on colour. The brown chrome at Stoke was nice, a light bluey grey is very nice. They do black or silver engine's. Both will go shabby if not looked after, so which is it. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

They come with rear seat fixed but think that would come off. Jim says an exhaust change is nice but I was quite happy as is. First service at 300/400 miles is a valve check πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ then good until 6k oil every year irl.

Some thinking to be done but really liking the 350. Nice z650 there looked very nice.

So, which colour would you go with. ???

The green one!

Not sure about the fake army colour, nor the brown seats. That black exhaust will break your heart too.It would have to be the blue? Or the brown, then change the seats to black on the duck egg jobbie.
