So its gone in for its first service, fork and shock off to SRAM for service, wheels to be checked, I imagine the free hub is poorly again, though I9 are muttering that their hubs can't cope with ebike loads. The chain is dead at 580 miles. I've asked that all frame bearings be replaced as I've "wintered and Dartmoor'ed" the originals. I could kill a set of speccy Enduro bearings in less than six months over summer.
Well, a fork and shock service is £200-220
A bearing all round £100-120
Chain at £20-40
I'm up at £500 if they're doing the removal/fitting.
24 bearings between mine and Mrs M's bikes.......Good job I've done a lot of OT this month.

I've never had to fit any external bearings to any of my bikes.
Both bikes are designed in America where mud is something you get a few weeks before the snow and you don't ride when it's muddy you just wait for the snow and then snowboard. Unfortunately it's not like that in Blighty so bearings take heavy punishment, also they are ridiculously small to keep the weight down so don't have a long life. Also some wheel bearings in that as well (more poor seal design than anything else) and e-bikes put a heavy load on rear wheels, something which the hub manufacturers are only just addressing.
The axiom strong, light, cheap (you can only have two) applies to everything MTB, note durable never gets a look in.
look at the number of bearings @weeksy replaces to keep The Boy Blunder's race bikes healthy.

Good news is LBS reckon the Evils bearings should last 12 months as though some were a little tired nothing was shagged after 6 winter months and a trip to a sodden Dartmoor. Also managed to get the Levo of Doom started up after replacing a coin battery in the head unit which was a bit fiddly. Boring bit is bouncy bits for Evil being returned unserviced as I need it next weekend for a Peaks trip and SRAM decided to up there turn round from 5 days to 4 weeks after they were sent off.

Yes, just got a new back wheel built at the LBS and at a push the front wheel in the Curtis will fit (which is fine for my local stuff but wouldn't want to use it anything too rocky).

Hopefully warranty and hopefully they’ve got a frame or front triangle in stock.

So I chased the LBS, again, apparently Evil suggested gluing the cup back in, shop informed them frame is way beyond that. Evil are seeing if they've a frame or front triangle in stock (looking at the sales prices they have many left in stock). Not happy.

I think that lot will cost about the same as a Ducati belt change service - so 750 GBP ish
Re Brighton's Specialized dealer - before they became only Specialized they were okay. Have you tried South Down Bikes in Storrington - I know it is a way to go, but their Trek wing, in Goring have been really good
So Evil Europe are being rubbish and I keep having to chase the LBS for updates, initially I'm being told a front triangle is on the way and then whilst I'm at the LBS an email arrives from Evil EU saying they don't have any front triangles until a delivery on 12th Sept so they'll have to strip a bike down.....I'm doubtful this will happen. LBS and Evil EU know I need the bike for a trip end of September but I'm increasingly thinking that I'll be taking the analogue bike to Dartmoor..
