With regards to FWR, add £25 to the cost of having tyres done ride in/out. Not sure if that is per tyre or for both. They were down the road from my old work place and always pretty fair with pricing.

Honestly, I can't think of a more suited bike for me. I'm absolutely taken with the DCT and would happily never have a manual box again. I think it's the greatest development in motorbikes in the last 20 years.

The bike is ridiculously comfortable now I'm getting used to the seat and wide bars. At first, I thought it was stupidly big but now I really appreciate the spaciousness of the thing.

It's nudging 55mpg overall, which is more than acceptable for a commuter.

It has over £2k worth of extras on it, so i've nothing to buy for it, and most importantly is fitted with a Rapid Bike Evo so it has perfect fuelling and will adapt to any changes like fitting an end can or a better-flowing air filter etc.

TBH, I'm struggling to find fault and I'm a picky bastard. I thought the brakes lacked bite, but after reading some threads, it seems they are all like that. Some like the softer bite as its more suitable for off roading. Others don't and fit braided lines and better pads, Galfer, SBS etc to improve it. I'll probably not bother as I'm used to it now.

It's got a rack on it and I now have a bike with an easily removable top box. I normally hate the look of top boxes on a bike, but they look okay on an Adventure bike.

Okay, I dislike the tyres, but that's not the bikes fault and will be remedied as soon as I can find time to pop over to FWRs or Two Tyres, or find somewhere local to me.

Its fairly obvious to most that I have the attention span of a goldfish and can be very impulsive, so, yes, it is possible I'll take a shine to something and move the AT on. I accept that is my MO, but I think I'd regret it f I did. Seriously, the way I feel right now, is the quest for the perfect commuter is over. The Africa Twin won, hands down!

Last year I was in my car on the A65 near Settle & a flock od ADVers started overtaking me,talk about sheep,they were all dressed the same & riding either GS's or AT's.Just when I thought it couldn't get any sadder one of them overtook me on a AT wearing one of those helmets ^^.
For a moment I felt embarassed to be a motorcyclist

I ordered a new key for the top box and then found out why I didn’t have the old one, as it was snapped off in the lock! so I removed all the handle assembly and got the lock out and eventually the broken piece of key. This also gave me a chance to clean all the assembly up and it’s now all back together and working well.

The correct mounting plate should have been delivered to my in-laws so I can collect that tomorrow and fit it all on. Job jobbed!

I've had it a good 5-6 years. It's comfy and has a nice wide aperture for, erm, lookin' out of.

But more and more I find myself riding the big ADV stylee bikes in a normal lid.

The visor is a fucking ball ache to change on the X4 if you get caught out after dark and the peak causes some buffeting depending on the height of the screen.

Looks the part, but I'm on an anti-establishment trip at the moment, I ride my GS in normal lid, jeans, short boots and a brown leather jacket.
