I'm in no rush anyway especially as i've got new radiators being fitted and a boiler service on Friday! So I think I'll roll the new tyres over until August's payday!

I used about 5 pairs of anakees on my Tiger and really liked the way that they handled. At about £230 a pair and lasted about 8 - 10k miles, they weren't expensive to run.

£230 a pair does sound good! Which ones did you have?

I used the original 2, 3 and adventure over the (nearly) 10 years I had the bike. They all handled very similarly.

I tried the battle wings (iirc) at one point but landed up throwing them away after about 3 or 4 thou miles because they were scary in damp conditions. Absolutely fine in the dry and the wet, but it always felt like I was going to lose the front in the damp, so they got replaced by the anakee 3.

The price is probably a but unique to the local tyre shop as that was a ride in ride out price.

Don't rule out Conti Trail Attacks too.

I was very impressed with how quickly they warmed up on my Varadero. They're the same compound as the Road Attacks, but with twice the tread depth.

Another vote for Conti Trail Attacks, have had a few pairs on my GSA and Caponord. Last well, stable cornering.

With regards to FWR, add £25 to the cost of having tyres done ride in/out. Not sure if that is per tyre or for both. They were down the road from my old work place and always pretty fair with pricing.

Honestly, I can't think of a more suited bike for me. I'm absolutely taken with the DCT and would happily never have a manual box again. I think it's the greatest development in motorbikes in the last 20 years.

The bike is ridiculously comfortable now I'm getting used to the seat and wide bars. At first, I thought it was stupidly big but now I really appreciate the spaciousness of the thing.

It's nudging 55mpg overall, which is more than acceptable for a commuter.

It has over £2k worth of extras on it, so i've nothing to buy for it, and most importantly is fitted with a Rapid Bike Evo so it has perfect fuelling and will adapt to any changes like fitting an end can or a better-flowing air filter etc.

TBH, I'm struggling to find fault and I'm a picky bastard. I thought the brakes lacked bite, but after reading some threads, it seems they are all like that. Some like the softer bite as its more suitable for off roading. Others don't and fit braided lines and better pads, Galfer, SBS etc to improve it. I'll probably not bother as I'm used to it now.

It's got a rack on it and I now have a bike with an easily removable top box. I normally hate the look of top boxes on a bike, but they look okay on an Adventure bike.

Okay, I dislike the tyres, but that's not the bikes fault and will be remedied as soon as I can find time to pop over to FWRs or Two Tyres, or find somewhere local to me.

Its fairly obvious to most that I have the attention span of a goldfish and can be very impulsive, so, yes, it is possible I'll take a shine to something and move the AT on. I accept that is my MO, but I think I'd regret it f I did. Seriously, the way I feel right now, is the quest for the perfect commuter is over. The Africa Twin won, hands down!

I recently threw out my 20 year old Tour X and replaced it with a useless POS Bell MX-9. I think I might bin it and buy a Tour X again. Not sure about fawn-coloured textiles though...
