If you have dicky knees the last thing you need is some heavy 240kg + monstrosity of a bike. You'll probably pop a joint just pushing it around.
My knees are mechanical knees and I have no problems with them in most respects. I was walking c10 miles a day in NYC recently. The problem I have is just changing gear! Mechanical knees don't have quite the same movement as human ones, so whilst I can turn my toes in towards the gear lever, its the up and down movement of the in-turned foot that is causing my problems. It may be scar tissue from the operation or tendons etc? I really don't know, but where I thought I could push through it, it turns out I can't and the more I do the more it aches and the knee becomes slightly inflamed and tight to move. I'm a serenity prayer kind of guy and if that's the way it is, so be it, I'll just move on to something else, e.g. said autos.

What if you made the actual toe part of the gear lever longer,so you didn't need to turn in your foot?

S'wat ive been doing. Was looking at the ID of my jack handle last night! Will probably get the Verniers out later and then have a look around, but I know the loft & shed of plenty will fail me for pipework!
Well the heavy bar end weights turned up. I should have weighed them all, but they feel at lest twice as heavy as the R&G ones! Be interesting to see if the help out at all...

R&G sell some proper tat. Some folk are obsessed with them, same as Renthall's
You know what.. I'd be tempted to look at that Rebel 1100. Busy roads, stop/start . It'll have a low seat, go/stop well enough, luggage options. The adventure alternative.

I also thought it looedk right up Tiepins alley, however I suspect having been a Hardly owner the idea of riding a plastic Nippon copy might put him off.
Tbh, I'd have a test ride myself...Talking to a mate last night, he just picked up a Triumph America, bit tatty but he loves it for plodding around in comfort . It's got those forward pegs. I sat on it and foot position is absolutely foreign to me, but he says you quickly adapt and it's mega comfy.

I forgot about the Triumph Speedmaster i had (same/similar to America)! It was good, but very long iirc, so not such a great commuter? I wonder what the Rebel is like?
1100 Rebel DCT is £10499 OTR! Just watched Chaseonwowheels (American youtuber) review one. He says what I thought when I saw him on it, your feet are too far back. It needs forward controls. He does say it goes round corners though. I think I'd favour the AT DCT over one tbh.
Just watched and I think it's ace for today's roads. Don't think pegs were a massive issue. Harder seats are usually fine . CC on the rhs isn't a problem either. Nice low seat, enough power and I like the kind of bagger look with the fairing thing. Didn't say how big the tank was. ?
Personally I'd have this over the AT. The adventure look is done and this look is where it's at. I'd have one tomorrow.
