Am i? If a bike is uncomfortable, and it can be sorted, then why wouldn't I?

Its an interesting bike for me and I'm warming to it more and more, whereas normally I'm starting to notice things that irk me with a bike. I don't think its a keeper though as it numbs my hands something rotten. It's a common complaint with them and no one has managed to cure it from what I've read, despite things like filling the bars with silicon or fishing weights or fitting a bar snake, heavier bar end weights etc. But when it goes is anyone's guess, but its not right now as i'm actually enjoying it! :wtf:

Most people just accept that bikes are not 100% perfect... I'm not saying you can't fix things, but you do seem to not accept anything other than perfection...

I fitted extra heavy lead bar ends to this GSXR and all sorted :)

Apparently the oem ones are 205g and the R&G ones in there, R&G claim they are slightly heavier, but dont quote any actual weight? I've bought soem that are 285g and will see if that does anything.

This one's a keeper though, so he might as well put the effort in :banana-dance:

TBF though, I agree with @Taipan. Ergonomics are usually fairly easy to fix, and make a real difference to your enjoyment of using the bike, every single time you sit on it (not just when you are giving it stacks, not just on the open road, etc.)

I find on all bike's these day's, ( age related I think ) I always have to stretch my legs out after a while, no matter what the peg height is. Think it's mainly down to just sitting in that riding position too long and the knee's ain't being as supple as they once were. In the car you're moving about a bit more. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm the opposite. A couple of hours in a car and I'm bolloxed, stiff as a board when I get out. I don't get any of that from hours on a bike.

Often change bars, grips, seat etc. for various reasons - we're all a bit different in height/arm, leg length/torso etc. Daft not to. It'd be like never adjusting the seat in your car from when you picked it up otherwise.

A couple of days commuting and the ache in my leg is back, albeit in a lesser way than before. So I really don't think there's anyway round this. Whatever bike I ride, changing gear is just never going to be comfortable for me. So I either put up with it or return to auto scoots or DCT bikes. C'est la vie...

Still enjoying the CB1R regardless though, and the Ducati isn't sold, so there's unlikely to be any changes yet. I'll see how things pan out for a while?

What's the list of DCT bikes then ? Obviously the Africa Twin ticks a fair few boxes and honestly has to be right up there ? But i don't know who/what else is DCT that may potentially work.

Has @Couchy still got his AT ?

Couchys would be too new for me I think. I've kinda expected that all roads will lead me to an AT at some point, but tbh I'm not keen on the wheel sizes. When i had the XT660R I hated the big front wheel and I worry I'd not gel with the AT because of it? I also didn't want that much money stuck in a bike again? I did watch some youtube reviews on them though and no one seemed to voice my concerns, in fact most just rave about them, so maybe I should actually test ride one? Nothing is happening until the Duc is sold though. My wife doesn't say much about my bike buying, but I think i'd be testing her if I brought a third bike home! :? :D

Another option is a NC750X again although the footpegs are surprisingly high on those iirc? I've had 3 of them though, so its not an exciting prospect, but quite a sensible one. Presumably lighter than an AT and the bonus of being ridculously economical and a but of storage in the "frunk" (false petrol tank), which is always handy!

I'm starting to be drawn to a second bike in the form of (yet) another SH300. Although i didn't want two bikes again, this does make sense. If my leg is giving me gyp, use the scoot for a couple of days and when its bad weather. Also, they have luggage capacity which is a bonus. This would allow me to keep the CB1R which, comfort issues aside, I'm really starting to like.

So, i'll probably buy a Harley then!

You don't tend to keep a bike long enough to put proper money into this type of mod, but it's out there.

If you have dicky knees the last thing you need is some heavy 240kg + monstrosity of a bike. You'll probably pop a joint just pushing it around.
