Hope your wood is better quality than the crap we get here!... the decking which only gets sun in the afternoon assumes interesting shapes throughout the year!

Our decking was rebuilt 5 years ago, using boards salvaged when the previous deck was demolished. That deck was built in 1998!

We're about 1000 miles north of you and wood twists for fun here. Knocked up a slatted fence the other week, after a month of sun 2 areas had lifted by @ 3", and the decking which only gets sun in the afternoon assumes interesting shapes throughout the year!

The wood that the builder used was very expensive pine. About €4.000.

I used the cheaper board as was only a temp fix. My roofer pal said if use good rubber paint sealant, it will last about 3 years. Then have it done with the posh tongue n groove.

2 years later its peeling and flaking like the singing detective!

We use Bondex which is about 90€ a tin. But the other pergola behind the villa still looks like new after 3 years. And the sun is bloody intense here.
