Croissant and coffee in the garden this morning while waiting for the world to wake up. Some of you lazy buggers who stay in bed don't know what you're missing

Toasted brioche and single origin Ethiopian coffee, cool, fresh air and thinking about routes for the Picos and Pyrenees.

Awesome. I said that but I don't actually know the who, what and how?
Air source heat pump - works like an AC unit in reverse, magically pulls heat from the air

Next stop, work out how to make it do AC for your house.

Sure there must be a way but doubt I'll find out as it has a full time job already. Certainly won't mention it to the wife or will turn in to my next project!

Presumably it blows - very slightly - colder air out than it sucks in?

I looked at that when I had a pool and couldn't find any instances of it being done. In the end I noticed that when it's warm enough to want AC on in the house then it's warm enough that you dont want any extra heating in the pool.
Heating a pool on mild days is probably a sweet spot of efficiency, better than heating a house in winter or cooling it in summer. It's still not cheap and I went down the solar collector route instead, good but the pool wouldn't be ready for morning swims.

I tried for solar thermal but absolutely none of the installers were interested. Was basically told that everyone is jumping on the solar PV bandwagon and they could pick and choose the profitable jobs.
Quite impressed with the ASHP so far, seeing an inlet to outlet differential of 2 degrees at the moment and is pushing the pool temp up pretty quickly - wait to see energy consumption though but would hazard a guess will be cheaper than the £150 a week in gas!

ASHP in general is a really good energy saving idea IMO. GSHP too.

Homes do need to be built with it in mind from the ground up though. One of my colleagues has a full on "eco house" with GSHP, turf on the roof and every fink, he only uses gas right in the depths of winter when it's well below zero.

Asparagus piss smell :(
Apparently that smell only happens with men, how weird is that?
Mrs Gremlin's bladder clearly didn't get the memo on that one. :wtf:

Looks like it might be baloney anyway. It seems 50% of people don't and it's genetic but I haven't found anything to support that the 50% are women. (Some people can't smell it either  ...which is worrying as the pong is a mercaptan and that's what they use to odourise natural gas. :D)

Not happy but funny.

Just been to visit my sister in East Dulwich (London). There's an e bike and scooter rental company called Lime and the bikes are discarded everywhere. Some of the side streets are like a slalom course for cars, the bikes are left sideways across pavements, the local youth have worked out you can move them downhill with a loud clack clack clack, I found the whole thing as funny as fuck.

Just walked along some corridors in the hospital with the crutch as decoration/balance! And went and sneakily tried some stairs (was told yesterday I’m no allowed to do that on my own and the nurses aren’t allowed to go with me )

Happy smiley me now cos I’m very happy to go home later as, whilst achy, I’m not in pain now :bblonde: :bblonde:

My eldest turned 28 yesterday, we've had our ups and downs but he's a good lad deep down.
