I do kinda wonder what they do with the cars when someone takes the cash alternative. The only reason these raffle sites have the cars in the first place is because they were a twat to move on...

The cash alternative is the sensible thing to do on that one.
The Jag is bad enough, if I knew beforehand that routine servicing, tyres and brakes would average about £1100 a year I might have looked for something else. The R versions are a big jump up from that to service.

Lately, i've questioned why I keep my Velar. £600 pa road tax. £800+ a year warranty. £300 a year insurance. Thats before I turn a wheel. I got it at the end of Novemeber last year and haven't covered a 1000 miles in it yet. I doubt I'll do more than 2000 in a year.

I enter a few of these comps, mainly the 99p ones that I've got no hope of winning.

I like to think that I'd take the cars, but in all honesty, in a lot of the cases, i'd probably have the cash. That would be a bigger gain for me than a car.

It's a completely different vibe, if you drive down the road in that car, or a souped up Impreza or a Ferrari 458 you're going to get a bunch of people who think you're a wanker, whereas in something like a Caterham or Morgan all you'll get is waves and thumbs up.

Not that I really care much what people think, but that's how it is.
Lol so you think.

I think "look at that middle aged wanker trying to be cool"

I'd have a (petrol) Q8...but not that blinged up 'footballers wife' version. Even looked, half seriously, at s/h Q7s but they only had diesels and they all had higher mileages than my current car. Not really worth the additional fixed costs for doing 5-6k miles pa.

That's half the problem with these raffles, there's loads of faffed about with stuff and hole-in-the-pocket exotica (or exo£ica). :(

People like Dream Car Giveaways and Xclusive actually modify a lot of their cars to make them more attractive. I guess they must get better ticket sales by doing so?

That doesn't normally happen.
I watched a youtube review of a Ferrari 355 yesterday and the fella was saying that they've now passed into 'classic' territory, so you can drive them through town without people mouthing the word "wanker" at you, whereas in any newer sort of blinged up sportscar you'll still get it.

Kit cars seem to fall into the classic bracket, where you don't generally get it.
I've thought people are wankers because of how they're driving, but never because of what they're driving! :wtf:
