No I haven't. Its my first Ducati and don't even know anyone else IRL that's owned one, or of any dealers. So I'm glad of anyinfo recommendations.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
You may well be right, but on my F800 it was night and day difference making the bike completely tractable from just off tickover and no more flat spot further up. On Ducatis, as Mr Mofoo says, the light switch throttle action cant be got rid off, but eliminating, or correcting the dire closed loop fuelling can certainly be improved. Whether that's improved enough for me to live with will remain to be seen I suppose? TBH I'm amazed I'm living with it as it is, but I really like the bike and it suits me very well in many ways too. He is also right too, that ragging it allows you to enjoy the brilliance of the Duc engine, but obviously, that just isn't possible on my commute! So I feel I ought to give it a shot as I'd like to keep the bike...weeksy wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 7:15 am I hate to sound harsh, but i don't think anyone can resolve the issues. Simply because you want something 'more' than bikes can give these days (in certain configurations).
IMO whoever you use, you'll be pissing £400-500 away as in 6 weeks from then, it'll be outed...
I still don't actually know what the answer is in terms of bikes though, but this one isn't it.
I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
A guy booked onto an 'advanced' course when he should have actually been on a back to biking session.
Ducati 600SS, he'd done less than 200 miles on it.
He was not getting on well, not enjoying it at all. Struggling. On a roundabout I managed to get where I could see the tacho. About 2k revs.
We stopped for a chat, he said it didn't really make any power and smooth out until over 3k. I told him he'd just identified his problem for himself - and told him to play tunes with the exhaust.
@Taipan similar: if it's too lumpy, then you'll need to rev it. In first, you may need to slip the clutch more up to higher revs. You may also need to gently drag the rear brake at times (assuming it has any feel to it) in tight turns.
On-road may not be the best place to try this, find a big empty car park. Take it in stages, get comfy in straight lines before trying turns.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
And then you sold it
I've only owned 1 twin, a Firestorm, and I found that a pig in traffic. It was carb'd so wasn't a FI issue just 2 whacking great pistons that didn't like being under X rpm (can't remember what). I could rev the knackers off it in 1st which felt poop or continually slip the clutch in 2nd which also felt poop. It was fine once at about 38mph but that wasn't much help with filtering as I was over 30 yrs old not 21 anymore when 40 mph filtering was where the cool (often broken) kids were at.
I think you could make it better, so if you are keeping it then worth a try. But if you're likely to punt it on I wouldn't bother.

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
The only bikes i've owned that have fuelled 'right' have been Japanese and non-twin/single. All KTMs were 'interesting' at times, although in it's defence the 790 was pretty decent. All twins, from Superdukes to Tuonos and everything Ducati have been 'challenging' at times.
the XSR900 was lovely before re-map and Superb after it... the MT07 just works lovely out of the box... Japanese IL4s, again all lovely.
But i think Taipan because of his riding style and his mindset wants 'more' than i'd be happy to accept. With the 690, you'd have moments where you think "FFS you piece of shit, get a nice RPM" but for me that was 0.5% of my ride, not 50% of my ride, which of course makes a huge difference to how it's percieved.

I was followed by a IAM Nazi, who told me my low speed riding was crap - and to use / drag the back brake. It makes a huge difference. Esp when entering a roundabout go a Ducati at higher revs than your would think ...Horse wrote: ↑Wed May 24, 2023 8:09 amA guy booked onto an 'advanced' course when he should have actually been on a back to biking session.

That's a lot of it too. I filter hardly ever now so can choose more easily how to ride around things. In London 95% of it's gonna be shite.

As in you've got the letter or got flashed/caught this morning? If the latter hopefully you might get a course?

Caught this morning. Blatted it through a tunnel right past the (unmarked) 5-0. WHoops! All things considered he was 1quite good about it. I was very polite though. He even ended with we all like to speed a bit now and again, but think about where you do it, because this really, really wasn't the place! I thought it best not to say, actually, a Ducati with a race can in a tunnel is the place...

I missed the Geneva Motor show this year - I LOVE it when I can hear one of the super cars bimbling up behind me in one of the many tunnels, I would open the windows and just enjoy!!

If you'd been in a lower gear you would have got the noise without the speed

I was just glad I hadn't got round to fitting the illegal sized number plate. This weekend though...

I bet you opted for the points because they wouldn't do you a 1:1 Speed Awareness course.

He couldn't say if they would offer me one, but it was one of 3 options. The other 2 were points and fine and lastly to contest it in court. I'll take either of the first 2, but I did a speed awareness test in April 2020, so i think that rules another out as its a 3.5 year gap between them, iirc?
