A Very Fast Sewing Machine

Post by McSatan »

Following a test ride on Friday, from which I returned grinning and gibbering. I have traded in my second best Ducati for a Zero SR/F electric bike. Fuck me. 140 ft-lbs of torque, all available from the first turn of the throttle. To say I was sceptical before the test ride would be something of an understatement, but as I said before, "Fuck me!" Instant power everywhere, never in the wrong gear for a corner, it takes about five minutes to get used to it and stop flapping your left hand and foot about, it's just *such* fun! So very easy to go so very fast

It's not practical. About 100 miles would be the range on a fast Sunday ride. Then leave it to charge for an hour to 95% while you have lunch.
You'll get about 170 miles in Eco mode (still very fast) with the regenerative braking.

I wouldn't have one as my only bike, but I have other noisy old Italian V-Twins to satisfy my lusts.

Not yet, mon brave! It'll be a couple of weeks, and I have to put my M*NG plate on retention to transfer to the new bike.

I'd bloody love one up here. Once I have a garage near the apartment, and am sure that being garaged over the winter won't kill the battery (it's still bloody cold in a garage up here!), I'd be really interested!

Although that would need bar risers for me! And my really preferred bike for living up here would be one more able to go on the fire tracks over the mountain - the only reason you aren't supposed to ride on the mountain is the noise disturbing the wildlife (national park area) :1 :1

Very very happy bike day :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde: :bblonde:

Just in case anyone thinks I've turned into an e-hippy and bought this in attempt to be 'green' I haven't. I'll tip a mixture of diesel and petrol into the sea every morning until the can's empty to make up for it.

"Relentless" is the word I'd use to describe the acceleration on most EVs.

Nice bike 👍
I rode that with a few other EV benchmarks and it was certainly quick!
My only small gripe was that the CoG was low and tended to push the front causing understeer. Might just be me and you could drop the forks a bit to help.

I'd love one. Had a read up and it looks like it might be able to reliably give me the minimum 65 mile range I need. That'll edge it up the list of bikes I want to own for sure. I did have concerns about servicing and parts with a Zero and always envisaged waiting for the big 4 to come up with something, but they are very slow with this?
