Are the tyres worn? Although some tyres just do that, I found the OE Dunlops on mine were really bad for it from the off.

Checked the pressures and looked over the tyres. The rear is starting to square off, but I feel it more through the bars? I guess that could be the front fighting the back though? It doesn't feel dangerous or owt like that, just odd? Tempted to stick a set of mutants on it...

I had D207's on the VFR I bought. Binned them as soon as I could and stuck Pirelli's on there. So much better, although I am now a Michelin man for both bike and car!

IIRC
Good front, poor rear = the rear tracking marks on the surface (and taking the mass of the bike from side to side). Not dangerous, just unpleasant.
Poor front, good rear = the front weaving about. Far more unpleasant.
Even bland can be a type of character

Dunno why, but I've always favoured Bridgestones? Dunlops and Avons were always avoided or swapped out if the bike came fitted with them. But tyre tech has really moved on, so i'm trying to ignore my previous thoughts and opinions and bear in mind any tyre will outperform my skills!the_priest wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 8:30 pm I had D207's on the VFR I bought. This is what I find, when the rear squares off the bike feels weird at under 30 mph, following road irregularities rather than going over them.

The Rossos are standard fitment and the bike came to me with only just over 4k miles and it certainly hasn't been anywhere near the edges of the tyres, so they maybe originals? Good to know that's a trait of a squared/squaring off rear though. Like I say it doesn't feel dangerous, just a bit odd? Cant recall any other bike feeling quite like it and i've squared off more than a few tyres in my time! I'll stick with them for now as there is plenty of meat left on them and maybe fit some mutants in time for winter*!Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:38 amThis is what I find, when the rear squares off the bike feels weird at under 30 mph, following road irregularities rather than going over them.

If they are original and done 4K by someone who doesnt like to lean over then i am not surprised they are squaring off. On my Fazer i bung on cheap black and round as its mainly for bimble teaching students within speed limits so no need for super sticky and i run them till they are legal minimum..... you can guess how badly it tracks road irregularities but seem to grip enough to get the the almost the edge of the rearTaipan wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:53 am

From memory it has a Pirelli Diablo Strada rear and Dunlop Streetsmart front which were both on discounted sale at FWR

Emailed them Tuesday morning but no reply? Might try BHP UK as a lot of the Hyper guys recommend them. Slight hiccup is you buy a device that connects to your windows PC/Macbook and download your ecu map and send it to BHP UK and they modify it and send it back and you install it using said device. I dont have a windows pc or macbook! D'oh!

Was going to order some o2 eliminators, but threw my toys out of the pram when I saw the P&P on these tiny little things!

Re: NBT: Sexy red beast has been bought and heading my way!
I need to lower the gear lever. I was expecting to undo a 10mm nut and drop it down a spline but when I looked I saw it’s different. I don’t want to mess it up, hence the question, but if I undo the Allen bolt, can I drop it a spline then, or is it not on splines and I have to use the linkage rod? Anyone know?
TIA

He needs to clean it and use some penetrating oil to get through the corrosion first

I haven't cleaned it since I got it! I was supposed to be having the detailing guy round to do it and apply some ACF but the weather killed the dates each time. If I don't go away this weekend, then it's coming into the garden for some updates and will get a bucket of water chucked over it then!

Yup. Its primary function is to get me to work and back. Servicing is mandatory. Cleaning is optional!Supermofo wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 2:18 pmIt's a proper bike mate Used and abused as it should beTaipan wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 12:31 pm I haven't cleaned it since I got it! I rode mine to work today, 4 different points had field water run off streaming across the road so I've got muddy splatter front and back. Can't be arsed to wash it as I want to use it and it's only a bit of mud so no harm. Will probably do it after it's serviced on the 17th.Taipan wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 2:20 pmYup.
